Thought I would ride my other beast today to hunt sheds and morels. Not much luck so far but a beautiful day. No regrets on burning a vacation day.

I tried one of them once when I was 10 years old. My father put me on it slapped the horse in the butt. Couldn't get that thing to stop. First and last time.

After being raised on/behind horses..that exhaust is no worse than diesel and gasoline exhaust !

However NOTHING IS WORSE THAN THE SMELL OF -UNLEADED GASOLINE EXHAUST !

(we used to do all the ranch work with horses..mowing/haying..feeding..herding..got the first tractor in 1950, a Ford 8N..then a 35 ford flathead V8 "hay-sweep" man that was fun...)

Razz

Mother and Father met rodeoing. I've been bitten, stepped on, thrown numerous times starting at about 2 years old. Off the front, back and sides. Pissed on, head butted, nearly kicked (I am a little smarter than that). Worked a horse from one end to the other, currying, worming, holding the quirk, puttin on new shoes, you name it. Told my Dad, I'll go with motorcycles.....they're less maintenance and safer! My brother on the other hand, rode bulls. Won't ride motorcycles. Something very wrong in our family.

The buckskin in the first pic is the last of the work horses. Four wheelers took their place. The rest are just a refusal to let go of the past I guess.

In 1986 I married a cowgirl. She got me into competition riding.
1987 I won most improved rider for our local saddle club.
1988 I placed #11 in State points standing and Cowboy of the year (including a fat Silver belt buckle).
1989 Got a fresh start (divorce). Haven't ridden since. That's good enough for me.
