Thumbs Up Well I finally did it

After getting my bike out of the shed 2 weeks ago and looking at it sitting in my shop since then because of bad weather or that bloody work thing I got to go out for a cruise for a couple of hrs which almost got cut short. I was about a half hr in to my ride about 10 mins north of Kinmount on the 503 up here in Haliburton and a freaking Buck comes out of the woods right in front of me, at 60 miles an hr dropping down a gear or 2 and grabbing the brakes the back wheel locks up, I start to go side ways the deer makes it across the road I manage to straighten the bike up shift the lumps in the back of my pants and say to my self welcome to 2014

My arsehole would have been puckered so tight there wouldn't have been any lumps in my shorts. Glad to hear you made it out alive.

Glad you were able to straighten the bike out and the deer missed you.

ABS would have helped you in that situation... but apparently the seat-of-your-pants braking did the trick.

Close call. Deer are a menace. Glad that you are okay. Letting go of the brake after the bike gets out of alignment can lead to a VERY unpleasant experience. You are lucky.

Yep, glad you kept it vertical. I didn't! I have a new appreciation for scanning the shoulders of the road ALL DAY now, since my deer encounter was at 2:30pm, I wasn't in my "deer mode" yet (dusk/dawn). Things are different now. Glad your OK.

Perhaps his lumps were of the scrotum variety running for cover?

I've never understood why some people lay into the back brake when panic stopping when the front does most of the stopping. Just saying. As far as ABS goes, yes, it would have helped a lot.

..Gadz..I hate panic...and every time I do it.. so far I'v usually been able to make a good story out of it....oh yea when telling about such close call's, I lie like a two dollar rug ! ..as for cleaning out my pants..I blame it on the "elestrol" they put in all those fast foods...that the gov admits only allows "aprox 15% more anal leakage" !

Locking up the rear brake was not my intention, shifting down 2 gears that quick and the buck just missing my front end may have caused me to push a little harder on the pedal then I wanted to. I got to admit it's very easy to sit back and talk about what if's until your in a position that makes you face split second decisions being right or wrong, just saying

I've been there with the nomad and it went ok. The roads were wet too and it was 3 deer. Go figure.

You know I'm not trying to pick a fight or start a pissing contest but , why does it seem that in most of you responses you have to be one up on everyone
