Wiring Harley tour pak lights?

I picked up a Harley tour pak and have it at the paint shop now. My question is about wiring the brake/tail lights and the side bottom running light strips. Will the existing Nomad brake/tail light circuit carry the extra lights without overloading the wiring?

What about these led bulbs, would they solve any potential circuit overload with the brake/tail lights?

I have not had any issue with current overload with mine. I don't remember if I went a little higher on the fuse maybe by 5amps......I don't think I did.

They make LEDs for everything including the side lights. They even make side lights with built in turn signals.

I connected my Tour Pak with the stock HD bulbs to the Nomad tailights and everything works well.

There won't be a chance of over loading for a few candle power lamps something like 4 watts for run and 8 for for brake with 1157 type bulbs. Nomads make a lot more power than the 2 wire alt set up HD has too, but there are limits still to around 38 amps max. The system is rated at 44 amps max out put and there are 2 alts and 2 rec regs. There is no specs on what amps the bike needs to just run, but a wild guess is about 10 amps to run the fuel pump ECU coils meter lamps running lamps hi and or low beam. All stock. then 55 watts x 2 for passing lamps is 9.6 amps, and here you have used apx 2/3rds of the power you have. Add in 6+ amps and you need a digital volt meter as you may find stopping for a red light cuts volts hard and the system may not recover with out turning something off a moment to allow the alt coil to excite the field.

The alt runs 1 to 1 engine rpm unlike cars with a puller set you that runs a car alt over 2,800 rpm at car engine idle. That is basic alt speed to just start charging. I live in moose bear and deer country and try to run 2 sets of passing lamps and i can but I can't stop and go again with put turning off one set a lamps for a moment. That is over the max of what my alts can do. And still I could tow a trailer with more lamps for that too. With out a 2nd set of passing lamps you won't need to manage anything unless you add in a amp for a big getto blaster radio. If you ever do a trailer use a hoppy adapter for 2 reasons. ! most trailers are wired to share the bulbs run/brake the American way and you need a converter from the Euro system the bike has with a separate turn brake bulbs AND the hoppy dies a strange thing and is inductive. This means the power in the adapter is re-generated and sent to the trailer, which means a signal is passed and if there is a dead short at the trailer side the ALTs and rec regs are off that trailer system. 99% of trailers have horrible wiring and if there is a dead short will kill alts rec regs and regulators. So the Hoppy IMO Is a Must Have

Thanks guys for the feedback. Good to know it will be ok to tie into the factory lighting circuits. That makes the job a lot simpler.
