I developed a log in Excel, but seem to forget to make the entries. You know open the file, and make the entries? Well here's another idea I've started using instead of the spreadsheet. I simply send myself an email describing the work performed, and then when I get the mail (immediately) I file it in it's own folder. This way I have the record with the date performed. Hope this might help you too.
