New WEBSITE and LOGO

As a lot of you already know, a new website and logo have been in the making for the last couple of months. A lot of time and consideration went into the decision to make these changes and into the design for both the website and logo.

The former website worked well, but we wanted an updated look and more simplicity for the members, the leadership, and the website managers. The former website contained a great deal of personalized and intensive coding that was difficult to explain and maintain. The new site is simple to manage and very user-friendly. The process for becoming a member of VBA, for instance, has now been streamlined and automated. On the former site, each new membership application--and the accompanying updates to membership lists and contact information--had to be processed one by one, by hand (by yours truly). Changes like this one will make it easier to manage at present and will also make it easier to pass on to future leadership and site managers.

In looking at the new website, you may notice that VBA now also has a set of bylaws. This is a new aspect of VBA that we believe will help VBA thrive now and in the future.

Now, a huge thank you to all those who submitted logos for consideration in the logo contest. The former logo was very well done but, again, we needed something simpler that could easily be represented on T-shirts, banners, and the like without too much cost. The coloring, shading, and intricate design of the former logo made making memorabilia quite expensive and any embroidering quite literally impossible.

The VBA staff members were very impressed with all of the logo entries. Congratulation to Joe "ID-MAN" Rees (VBA #2406) who created the winning design. Each VBA staff member--including all regional leaders, national leaders, moderators, and other staff members--had the opportunity to participate in the logo change.

Now before you all go jumping to the conclusion that I am a narcissist, I want to make it clear that I had nothing to do with the design for the winning logo. On top of that, my top choice for color scheme was not chosen.

Of course, in making any change there will often be room for correction or advice. If you see an error on the website or have any suggestions regarding the changes, please feel free to let the VBA staff know.

Again we are grateful to all who helped make these changes, and we are excited for the benefits they will bring to VBA.

I really like the changes to the web site and logo, they look great.
And congratulations Jared and Jay on being our new leadership. Apparently it's been a while since I got on the web site or forum and had no idea of the change in leadership.
At the risk of opening up a can of worms, can I ask what happened?

No worms Steve... Trip just needed to focus elsewhere than in here for a time. It's all in the archives.

Hey Jared... Nice work with the new website!

I just noticed that my bike in the members list is out of date though... How do I get that changed? I can't see any way in there to update without submitting a new membership application.

I was reading the rules for this new forum and came across this;

  • Refrain from trollingor posting controversial messages meant to bait other users to reply.
That is really going to cramp my style.

Nothing has changed with the rules. Those same rules were posted and have been around for about a year. If you're still here I guess the moderators like you?
