Snow and southerners...bad combo

Sitting on traffic for 5 hrs so far. I've gone about 6 miles. At least a dozen, maybe more, stuck on hills. All for a freakin inch of snow. To be fair, lots of black ice. And our benevolent governor declared a state of emergency:eek:

Its gonna be miller time when I get home. And probably margaritas too. Based on travel so fat, will take about 7-8 hrs to get home

Had just a few flurries here but quite a bit of sleet and freezing rain. Nearly all of the interstate system is closed. It won't begin melting until some time tomorrow afternoon. Roads are glazed over with black ice. If we get any snow it will be later tonight and will only make things worse for travel.

My brother was stationed down there in the service.
He said those people were the worst drivers he has ever seen in the snow.
Not lots of snow, a dusting would be enough to make him want to stay indoors and out of their way

Yesterday the Georgia DOT was proclaiming, "We've got our sand trucks, salt trucks and plows all set to go! We are ready for the snow coming!"

They all must have gotten stuck in the DOT garages, no one has seen any of them on the roads.

So this time the schools decided not to close. Kids all across metro Atlanta are still stuck in the schools. Buses can't get to them. Parents can't get to them.

went to get granddaughter at school (late letting out) all back roads were slick had no problems myself but watched people driving like it was just raining and saw one lady take out a brick subdivision sign and end up in ditch I saw her coming down hill toward the road I was traveling on and just stopped because I saw she was traveling too fast to stop . Told granddaughter that the body shops would be busy in the next few weeks . Everyone is in just too big of a hurry to get somewhere and end up late on acct. wrecking.

Hang in there.
It just looks like a spring day up this way.
Yes we may be used to snow and ice, but we have our share of idiots too.
I think a day at skid control school should be mandatory cause there are those who have no idea how to get out of a slide.

I find if I just shut my eyes and scream like a little girl it works most of the time. Eventually the vehicle stops or hits something to stop it

I've driven in snow a few times. Snow isn't the problem here. 1/4" to 1/2" of black ice makes driving pretty tough. Winter events here are usually ice, not snow.
