OK
Just graduated from the 900 to the Nomad Saturday. Found this Nomad forum.
Had my Nomad 2 days and WOW, cant believe the dif. Look forward to reading some of your messages and tips soon as i can.
First question i have. The owners book says to use 90 plus octane gas.Does everyone agree with this? Thought i would ask since gas in my area was 3.91 Per gallon this morning.
Love the Nomad.

Welcome kawbuc from NW Georgia, Congrads on the new Nad , wonderful bike. You'll find lots of good info on this site, and some really great folks too. On the octane, you'll just have to try it ???. As long as you don't get any pinging, you'll be OK. Saturday I filled up with 87 octane,(first time since it was new in '05) had no pinging (so far) and the bike seemed to run even better . Enjoy the new bike and ride safe!

Welcome aboard kawbuc, theres lots of info here for you to check over. Mine runs well on 87 octane, some ping on 93. Youll have to try it and see how your bike runs on the various grades.

Welcome to the forum.......lots of info on gas here...personally, I run 93 most almost all the time...you can get by with lower octance if you want depending on the bike and climate you are in....As long as you are not gettting preignition, you are not going to hurt anything...but again, I run 93.

Welcome Kawbuc.

When you buy a Nomad you can pretty much forget about getting any kind of gas mileage unless you restrain your throttle hand with an iron will. My "throttle will" is made of Cheez Whiz and I get somewhere around 30~32 riding cross-town to work every day.

Kawbuc,

Welcome from Wisconsin! I have not tried running the lower octane in mine yet. I run 93 and have no pinging.

Welcome Kawabuc from Schriever, LA. I just purchased my Nomad on the 3rd of April. Lovin it more and more each time I get on the seat. My toy battle is won, my wife loves to ride. I just joined KawaNOW last month and really enjoy reading the threads and replys. Lots of good info for a newbie like myself. Take care

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have run 93 octane from the get go to 1,200 miles.

Mitch
