I have 10,000 miles on the ME880's. I like the ride and how they track through corners. However, they sing a little in corners. No problems in rain and they make the speedometer almost accurate. I'll buy them again.

I need a rear tire also, like today.
If you will read through the old threads you will note that I use the "Groundhog Method"....that is, you can see the air in it when I finally replace it. Since I dont wanna get stranded at the Walmart I am calling for an ME880 today and will replace with that. I like the radial idea and that size change as well.

I'm ready for tires too. Debating between Metzs and Dunlap. Seems like some places have difficulty getting the Metzs in...has anybody else found that problem?

Americanmototire ( www.americanmototire.com ) seems to have a good price on them...$163...I am going to see what the local Kawa dealer will sell me one for first. I hate to wait on shipping if it's kinda close in price.

Update....local dealer selling me an ME880 180/70R-16 for 184.00 so thats the way I am going....giving me a little break on mounting too that way. I am to the point where I dont have a lot of time left to look around.......I'm down to a racing slick on the back...yeah, I know....bad boy :'( :'( :'(

My dealer quoted me $145 for the 160 and about $125 for the 150. That's for a rear tire. Not sure what their mounting price is but I think it's around $50.

I just ordered the Avon Venoms for my 2001. I have had them on my 1500 Classic and absolutely loved them. Quiet and they stuck to the pavement really well.
The 880's are great tires! I just prefer the ride of the Avons. As far as availability, my brother owns a bike shop in Deer Park, Texas (if you live in the area and need something give them a try) and if any item they are ordering from Parts or Drag is in the Dallas warehouse then I get it next day. For this order, the front tire was in Dallas and the rear wasn't so it will take 4 days instead of 1. Oh, his shop is City Line V-Twin Cycles at 281-479-0900. Tell them I sent you and you will get the special deal of double the retail price. ![]() In my case, the cost would be the following: Avon Venom 150/80/16 Black Front - $142.95 Avon Venom 150/80/16 Black Rear - $151.95 I didn't price the 880's so I can't tell you what they would have been. |
