Coming up for air

Greetings all,
I know I haven't been around much as of late. I often lurk and occasionally throw out a comment, but I really haven't had the time to spend here. Obamanomics has hit my section of the performing arts industry pretty hard, at least to the point where I'm traveling even more than normal. Gotta go where the work is. In fact, I've only burned two tanks of gas on the Nomad in the last two years!!!
I know...right? Insane.

So today it's 80º and beautiful here in the Springs, So I walked away from my desk and fired up the Nomad and got in a short 60 mile ride in lieu of an early lunch. Wonderful! Bike ran like a raped ape up the Interstate and ran some twisties like a champ. Sure felt good to be on two wheels again, and for a 14 year old motorcycle. I still couldn't be happier with it.

More changes on the near horizon for me, which I'll update everyone on once they solidify, but I wanted to check in and say I'm still here, ornery as ever and I do hope to connect with many of you again someday.

Now, off to Chicago for three days (Hi Greg! How far are you from Tinley Park?) and then back to Las Vegas, but I will be home again next Wednesday.

Now that the weather has warmed up here (as I said, 80º today, but we had school closings because of snow last week), a lot of motorcycles are out, and a lot of accidents are happening. Keep alerts guys and keep the shiny side up.

You doing the Rush concert? If so, I think I might hate you. :) Glad to see you're still kicking.

About 1.5 hours depending on the traffic. Up here that is nothing though.

What's at Tinley Park this weekend? I don't see anything scheduled...

You need a place to stay?

Thanks for checking in Daryl. I'm glad to hear you're taking some time to "smell the roses" and get out for a ride now and again. I hope we cross paths again one day soon. If your work {or anything else} ever brings you to the west coast of Canada, be sure let us know.
Stay safe !

I feel bad Daryl because my wife reminded me we have work scheduled this weekend. It involves others, thus we cannot cancel -- although I seriously gave it one heck of a try!

With my bad back, I am not going to do any of the work, but have to remain around while it is getting done.

I wish I would have known you were coming ahead of time; because I would not scheduled anything and have ridden my Spyder to Tinley Park, and had my wife trailer my motorcycle to so we could all have taken a ride. You could have used my bike, while we rode the Spyder. It would have at least given you a few hours of riding.

I know we live a distance from Tinley Park, but you would be more than welcome to head my way. It would be closer to 2 hours to get here if you drive highway speeds... less if you drive faster. (I have a different way to go than Google Maps' suggestion).

Heck, you could even come up and ride my motorcycle around here if you can make it; and we'll cook-out so you'll be fed before going back to the hotel (or stay over and head out early).

Just a thought for you to consider Daryl. Would be glad to have you!

Again, I am sorry. Come summer around here, either me or my wife schedules something every weekend, because of the short summer season.

Let me know though. Understand if not.

Greg

Wow Greg! Very generous offer! Thanks!

But I'm afraid it won't work with my work load for the weekend. I only found out I was coming a few days ago, which is pretty much the norm for me. I'm flying in to Midway around 4:00pm on Saturday and the venue is sending their driver to meet me and drop me at the hotel in Tinley Park, so I don't have a car this trip. Management usually wants to meet for dinner, but they haven't arranged that yet, so that's why I may have some time Saturday evening. Ray PM'd me and tells me he's only 15 minutes away from Tinley Park, so if my Saturday scheduled stays clear, I'll connect with him for drinks and a bite.

Then I'm at the venue with their crew all day Sunday and meet with their Top Dog (and former Illinois State Senator ) on Monday to present my recommendations. Fly out in the evening on Monday back to Denver, late enough that I'll just grab a room near DIA rather than drive back to the Springs as I have an early flight out to Las Vegas Tuesday morning. Fly back home late Tuesday night.

However, depending on their response to my proposal, I may be back up there in the next few months to implement it, so I'll give you a greater lead time in letting you know I'm coming. Maybe we can connect then.

Again, many thanks.
