J&M CB Radio
Hi to the Kawanow family...been a long time and see many things have changed - Nice. Question for anyone who can help???
Recently had a J&M CB installed on my Nomad. It was installed using the specs provided by J&M. However the unit once installed blocks part of the high beam switch. It can't be raised because of the mirror and obstruction it would cause with clutch operation. The only thing we can determine is to move it over more towards the center, but this would require some sort of extension bracket that could be installed under the screw that connects the mirror (clutch side) thus allowing the CB unit to be extended over towards the center (past the master cyclinder - I think that's what the box is located on the handlebar clutch side). Would greatly appreciate help, suggestions on how and what to use so the unit doesn't create an obstruction to high beam switch, mirror, clutch etc. tks. Oh yes what size antenna would you recommend for best reception...purchased 1 ft but think it may be too short. don;t want something so long that it whips around in the wind (like hitting me upside my head while riding) Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Could you post a photo of the existing bracket so we can see how it attaches now?

Hey Beezer - I'm still here??? stop by as a guest every now and then, but in the fall and spring I go back to the books - trying to get my Master's so time is real limted - but class is almost over and I just took the bike out of storage and ready to RIDE!!
Cadd - it's a pleasure and I'll get that picture out in the next day or so so. May need instructions on that too, cause I'm technically challenged in that way. |

Hi dip.......yes, I have a J&M also. When I installed mine, I noticed right away that there was a little blockage from the high beam switch, but I was able to get my thumb under it enough to make the switch...so I left it the way it was.
As far as the anteanna whip length, I ended up cutting a stainless steel whip about 3 feet long. It works great. Hope this helps. Trip
