Just starting to cool-off... and I am still ticked...

It is just now starting to cool-off here in northern-Illinois along the Wisconsin border.

We have had a record heat-wave this year as most have. There isn't anything green left; including the commercial crop like corn, beans and etc -- so expect food prices across the board to go higher from this point on. Farmers do not expect any recovery of their crops at this point. In other words... no amount of rain will help-out at this point to increase the crop-yield. (So as I have been told be local farmers and the futures market.)

I am still ticked-off that the consistent 105 degree weather with 60-80 humidity has interfered in riding this season. I have tried repeatedly; but it is just a killer to take a day-long ride in this heat. I don't think it is doing engines any favors either.

Sitting in my drive, and suddenly the temp drops 15 degrees to 90 degrees with a breeze... feels like a cool-wave. 65 degree predictions for tonight... I can only hope.

I don't think I'll ever complain again about riding in sub-60 degree weather again!

I also hope that this is a passing phase so the "global warming" freaks don't come out of the woodwork.

Weve been pretty warm here as well, in the mid to high 90's the past ten or twelve days. Today was better, we had rain this morning and it did get into the 80's today, but now its cooled off nicely, next week is supposed to be a lot more comfortable.

It's pretty bad when the highways start buckling. Has been pretty warm here in Ohio too. Speaking of corn and produce, my father bought some corn at a price of $5 a dozen. It was $3.50 at the same place last year. The ears were a lot smaller this year too.

It's been hot and dry here as well.
That's normal. Just not this hot this soon.
It's almost as bad as last year.
Grass fires have become an everyday thing.
If I'm going riding I make sure I'm back by noon.
Should cool off to the mid 90's next week.
Hot, but a bit more tolerable.

Only 109° here today. Took a short ride over to see Ponch and family in the hottest part of the day. It should warm back up to 113° by Monday. ;-)

Greg, we have been having that type of weather since June 1. Very warm, ok HOT. Yesterday I rode up to the mountains and when it started to rain I didn't even stop for a rain jacket. It felt good. When I made it out of the mountains it was low 90's close to home and it didn't feel bad.

Yesterday it was 104. Today it cooled off to 88. With the window of "cooler" weather now here I am off to WY on Monday. My second night there will be in Riverside, WY where the high will be 77 and a low of 45!!!!!

I met my son at a mall in Tempe for lunch and a movie today. I rode the bike to the mall, about 25 miles from home. The ride over there at 11:00 wasn't too bad, the ride home at 3:00 was 112° - a real scorcher.

Y'all are describing typical Texas summers (they ain't fun); here in Houston you'll need to add a few more tics to the humidity. We've been doing "Breakfast" runs, KSU by 7:30am. Find a small town eatery, ride the countryside roads, and back home by noon. We can get in about 150 miles, then it's back to the A/C.

No, I was describing a typical Phoenix summer.

Greg, too late. The global warming pinheads are already at it. This is just another hot summer as far as I'm concerned. Like the rest of you, I'm looking forward to it cooling off, even for a day.

Let me break your hearts...

Went for a nice ride yesterday, 88 degrees, Humidity around 40, a little windy though, gusts up to 30MPH but we are use to the wind here. You guys can keep your heat.

Relief... Finally! About high 80's now with a cooler breeze.

Took off solo this morning tracking a few roads I've never been on. (Can see why now though.)

Anyway... We've seen heat indexes of 110+ with high humidity since May - which has really blown the riding season around here - at least for all day rides, of which I prefer.

Think dealers have felt it too, with fewer bikes riding as much.

Today is normal weather, where normally we would think it is hot. Not so much now!

Everyone had better prepare for potentially high food prices, and any other products made from corn and soybeans - of which the list is endless. I stopped at a corn field and checked the ears... Pretty stunted on what I saw... Which looks to be the norm at this point. Not good...

I'll try to ride for most of the day today, and try to catch-up on lost time.

I've been being quiet on this one. I feel for you all. It's been
warmer here than usual but not as bad as you all describe.
I guess I'll go back to being quiet in here again.

Been hot here also so I rode up to the Upper Peninsula on Monday and hung around until Wednesday, put about a 1000 miles on. Yesterday The TCVR hauled ass down to LaCrosse and then we hit some of the alphabet roads down there including the Mindoro Cut. Put over 400 miles on, 275 riding the twisties. Great day and temps only in the mid 80's.
