Bolts that hold the windshield together?

I have a couple bolts on my windshield that could stand to be replaced. Can those be found in a hardware store or is that a dealer item?

Thanks!
John

Well, if you want an exact match, you're going to have to get them from a dealer or OEM parts retailer like ronayers.com, bikebandit.com or mrcycles.com. ACE hardware can get you pretty close, but the heads are slightly smaller.

They are 6mmx20mm or 6mmx25mm, 2 lengths are used, depending on how many of the chrome plates they pass through.

I broke a couple myself and had to buy some replacements.

Bolts that hold the windshield together?

When I needed longer chrome bolts to keep my grabrails with my trunk mount I got them from here:

Bolts that hold the windshield together?

Does anyone else have problems with the bolts that hold the windshield together? They are the small ones that hold the shield together (10mm heads). I went to adjust my small center shield and when I tried to unloosen them, 2 were stripped and I had to break them off. I ordered new ones from the dealer. Are windshields something the dealer has to assemble (over torqued with an air tool) or factory?

Bolts that hold the windshield together?

I mentioned this in another thread, but the first time I disassembled the windshield to clean and adjust the inner windshield, I didn't notice they used 2 different bolt lengths, some are 20mm long, some are 25mm. The reason is some have to pass through more chrome plates. I didn't realize this, and when I put the windshield back together, I used a couple of 25mm bolts where the 20mm should have been. I torqued those puppies tight and then next time I went to take it apart, I broke a few of the bolts off. Live and learn...I spent $30 buying replacement bolts and acorn nuts. That's a mistake I'll never make again.

The bolts are pretty cheap thru Ron Ayers but the shipping was $9. If I had a dealer close I just get them there.
