new tire

I need to mount a new front tire and was wondering if bb"s would work as well as dynabeads for balancing.I was going to try to change the tire myself. Any thoughts?

They would work the same I assume, but since they are made of metal I wouldn't use them. I would be afraid that they may damage the inside of the rim, and possibly rust in there from the tire mounting soap and moisture in the air.

nomadrider --- Dynabeads are dirt cheap. Less than 10 bucks for a tires worth.

Another option you might want to consider is using the air-soft pellets, and for about $8 you can get enough to do 10~12 tires. A couple of members here use them, and they are real popular with the Goldwing riders. I would use them, but I have dynabeads in mine. The only down side to them is you have to break the tire down to install them,'cause they won't fit thru the valve stem, which that could be a good thing since you won't have a chance of them getting caught in the shrader valve like the dynabeads can. One other thing, you'll have to figure out a way to weigh them out since they come in a bulk container.

Thats correct, you put in about four ounces for a car tire and approx two ounces for a bike tire.
You can check out Dynabeads on their website.

I got my DynaBeads 3/4 mile from our home in Lynnwood, WA. Haven't bothered to look for them in Phoenix since I have two good tires.

What are airsoft pellets? I'm getting ready to replace front tire also. Another question, what options are there for raising the front end to change the tire short of buying a lift like Harbor Freight sells?

Buying a lift is about it. Unless you remove the fender, you have to lift the bike pretty high (relatively speaking).

These are airsoft pellets...

but you can find them at Walmart, or just about anywhere that carries sporting goods.
