changed oil replaced clutch

I know this is a repeat question but at $300.00 mabey its worth refreshing. I changed my oil from dino oil over to Rotella Synthetic Diesel oil because I always have it on hand and I saw on here somewhere that this oil has no friction modifiers that will make the clutch slip. After much research best I could tell this type of oil was a good choice. A week after changing over the clutch started slipping. I just paid my mechanic $300.00 to replace my complete clutch assembly. He said my springs were weak and the teeth on some part I dont know the name of was wore down but the friction pads of the clutch were not wore out. My 03 Nomad has 30,000 miles on it. Has anyone had the same trouble or was it just time for a clutch. Seems like Synthetic oil has now become the thing to do. Yea I know I could have bought synthetic oil at the motorcycle stealership, it just seems they think its worth a little to much money.

I don't know anybody that's had a problem using rotella synthetic diesel oil. sounds like you had issues that were non friction related; ie, spring

sounds that way to me too. Rotella Syn is great oil.

All my buddies with bikes use Rotella Syn and that is what I will use when I change the oil soon.

I use AmsOil synthetic in both bikes and like the results so far. Biggest thing I noticed when I switched was how much better the tranny works.

I used the rottella syn last time I changed the oil and no problems yet.

been running rotella syn for about 6 mo no slippage or problems here.

Thanks for the replies guys, Im going to keep running the Rotella it sounds like it was just time for a clutch. It makes you wonder when ou make a change and BOOM something happens. For the life of me I dont se how a clutch works in oil. It looks like it would slip all the time. I assume wet clutch does mean the clutch disc are running in oil ? Yea I know never assume because it makes a a-- out of you and me in this case just me.

Shell perfected it's Rotella T (dino) running up Pike's Peak using a semi tractor. Back it the earlier days, not all that long ago, brake fluid would boil climbing up to 14,000 + feet like that. All lubricants and fluids have progressed by leaps and bounds in the past 30 years.
