First, welcome Miker60 from the Azores! Second, anything is possible with enough time, money and ingenuity but why? Part of the look of the Vaquero is the lack of a TourPak. If you wanted the extra luggage, why not get a Voyager?

That's why he wants quick release. Because the Voyager without a tourpak doesn't look anywhere near as cool as the Vaquero.

Miker60, I think I've read in these forums where someone has done it. As you can imagine it's not a cheap endeavor, but like any custom jobs, totally worth the effort!
I'll take a look around the threads and see if I can find what I'm thinking of.

Welcome from St Louis!

I sure didn't find a post. But I still believe it can be done fairly easily, with a price.

Components for the QR system from Kawasaki, and a custom luggage rack to hold the trunk and passenger backrest. . . . $$ :0)

No! It would be criminal to put that cheap trunk on a Vaquero!

Welcome from Ontario, and I totaly agree with CJ about mounting that cheap trunk on the bike. I don't think it will last as good as one of the other brands.

Because I rode both bikes and the Vaquero is a nicer bike IMHO! I would not buy the Veger - but I probably would the Vaquero, if I was to buy another Kawi.

Amen. I think the Newer Venture one would look good.

It's expensive, but you could use the hardware for the F&I quick detachable backrest. That's where I might start.

I agree with this statement, if you need a tour pack, then the Voyager would be the way to go in my opinion. Bought the Vaquero for it's looks and not for storage space on long trips.

It would seem to me they want some model definition. If they made the tourpack QD on the voyager, why buy a Vaquero? If they offered it on the Vaquero, why buy the Voyager? May be they have too many 1700 models. What they should put on all models is ABS. As far as tourpak, I would start with the QD passenger backrest and modify it so it isn't a backrest anymore, but incorporates a mounting plate for a tourpack. problem solved. I would think the late model Venture trunk would look best, but some may like the HD or even the Voyager. Which ever one is chosen could be made to work. Sort of like a Kawasaki version of the XCT.

Not necessarily. The Voyager has those awful saddlebags, the Vaquero doesn't.

I seriously considered a Vaquero, but the lack of an available, bolt-on tourpak steered me away. I really didn't care much for the Voyager, so I jumped ship.
