Glasses?

Unfortunately I can't wear contacts. With the astigmatism and bifocals I am stuck with glasses. It wouldn't be a good idea to ride without them either. A few questions when it comes to touring.

Do you take a spare set of glasses with you, pros and cons?

I am considering having a 2nd set made without the bifocals to use when riding. Using the primary set when I need to read. Good idea or a waste of money?

Other suggestions for us poor souls that are stuck with the extra accessory on our nose?

Glasses?

I always carry a spare pair with spare clip-ons. Anything ever happen to the primaries, I'd be stranded without the spares. Never wanted to hassle with contacts although the hassle with glasses and a full helmet probably rivals it. Sure don't need the bifocals for riding, one pair I had (gradients) were so directional I could not comfortably ride with them.

What's the "con" of having an extra pair? I know I carry 2 pairs of reading glasses. Would be lost without them...

Glasses?

I had the lasik surgery this past summer. I love that I don't have to worry about the glasses anymore. And I can wear regular sunglasses!!!

I carry a spare pair. I would be in big trouble if something happened to mine and I didn't have the spare ones.
Contacts? nope, not sticking something in my eye. I stuck my finger in there once and it hurt like he11
Lasiks? Nope, just my luck the doc would have it set like a phaser on star trek and put a hole right through to the back of my head :(

Glasses?

A bunch of my pals got lasik done before we went to Iraq so they wouldn't have to be messing with glasses or contacts over there-All of them couldn't say enough good about it. When I saw how happy they were I insisted that my wife do it too. Now she has better than 20/20. Before she was legally blind couldn't even see the big E.

I still wear contacts and use reading glasses for up-close stuff. I am resisting going to bifocals after wearing glasses for 30 years before the contacts. If I travel, I always take a spare set of contacts with me. If I wore glasses all the time, I'd carry a backup pair. I see no difference (pun intended).

You glasses wearers they do make fit over sunglasses that are NOT those big solar shields you see old people wearing. These look like reg sunglasses and can be bought out of most all catalogs, etc. :-)

Yeah Doc, I have them. I bought a pair of dark green that are so dark I couldn't see the speedometer numbers. Then I bought a pair of amber, they are great.

Glasses?

I wear glasses, and have contacts for when we ride... However, they do make what are called Transition lenses, the UV rays of the sun cause the otherwise clear lenses to turn a darker hue and turn into faux sunglasses. They work pretty well, except when you are in a car, since you don't get the UV rays. Known several people that like them quite well, although I prefer contacts when I am riding.... just my 2C

Perfect explanation. I've got the transition lenses. Should probably start having a 2nd set with me in case.
