...but it's a dry heat!

I went out and ran a few errands on Big Barney today. It has an air temp gauge on the dash. It read just under 90 degrees when I left home at 09:45. Returned home at 12:00, and here's the gauge now (see pic)

It doesn't go any higher. It's pegged at 120°!

I don't know how anyone could live in that heat, its 70 here and thats plenty good for me.
Hows the bike feel with all that heat, does it burn your leg?

No, no worse than the Nomad did. It used to get damn hot on a day like this in city traffic. The big black tank on the Nomad used to get hot enough to cook breakfast on.

My fairing came with the air deflectors along the bottom edges, so I can either block the air flow or vent it toward the engine or up onto me. They make a big difference.

I would think it's higher than that.

I'm not sure where the sensor for the gauge is. I'm guessing it's inside the fairing. I heard 107 on the radio while I was out.

I never said it was 120 degrees here, just that the gauge on my bike registered that.

...but it's a dry heat!

Dang Scott! That is insane!
After working in Surprise AZ for five weeks last July and August when it was between 115-120 almost every day, I was so glad to get back home to Colorado. I'm glad there are those who love that kind of weather and live in a place that provides it, but me? I'll take cold and snow anytime over temps like that.
I've found that when it's cold, I can always find a way to get warm. But... :)

The temp gauge on these things is practically useless. Since it is so small it is nearly impossible to know what the temp is -- which makes me wonder why HD even bothers to continue to put them on the touring bikes.

I would prefer it be digital, or simply replaced entirely with an oil-temp gauge.

I rode 200 miles today in around 75 degree temps...

With an onboard computer, you can have it all in one display, digital. Judging from the LED temp signs around, mine is usually within a degree or two if not on.

Sounds like a lovely day for the A/C.

It's July and I spent the day working on my neighbors furnace. They will be cold tonight but they will have their heat back on soon. It's sort of the opposite of what happens in Phoenix if your A/C goes out in the summer. Then you go hang in the pool and bust out with a cooler full of beer on ice. =D

At least the neighbors still have space heaters and an electric blanket.

Yep, it does get hot in Arizona. Cool nights and hot days.

We're not in the hundreds every day but in the mid 90's with 60 - 80% humidity. That isn't dry heat. More like a sauna.
