some scuzzy guy eyeing up my bike....

So yesterday I was on a long days ride to nowhere in particular with a couple of CMC mates, when I passed through John's neck of the woods.....

As I passed by a random shell station (or was it esso?) I noticed a good looking black nomad with some non-standard mod's, and had an "ah-ha!" moment. So I pulled a U-ie and rode up next to his bike.

John came out of the gas station to see some scuzzy looking kid eyeing up his bike. Fearing for the safety of his prized nomad he came running out, fist cocked ready to fight and....
casually said "hello" and held out a friendly hand to shake....

From there we had a good chat, and I was able to eye up his mod's in person - I can report they look just as good in person as they do in the photos (even better).

I had a great chat with John (and his lady friend ;) ) before finishing off my 1k km ride day. John's a good guy if you get a chance to meet him - just becareful about the headlight direction intensifier he may try and sell you!

John is the second Kawanow'er I've bumped into, though I keep seeing Al/Pshyocycle's ride at Canada place so that should get half points.....

I can confirm what you say about John being a nice guy, Brian. I've talked and met up with him when he rode through Langley ....last year?
We have missed each other on a couple of other occasions he's been out this way. He is quite the guy when it comes to mods for sure. Very talented. I haven't met a guy on a Nomad yet, that I haven't liked. .....Well maybe a couple.

Hey John! when you com'in back this way?
I hope things have evened out for you these days and you're doing fine. Stay cool my friend.

Rick..life is somewhat smoothing out now. I came thru your way a couple of weeks ago but was on a mission to get to the island to go to another funeral. My Mom is doing okay and her stroke was a mild one with some short term memory loss. I came back by way of Duffy lake. Next time, not sure when..I will definately dial you up...hope your knee is better and life is treating you well. Take care bro...John

Hey John,
Glad to hear things are a bit better for you.
I look fwd to hearing from you when you have the time to get together. Next time or any time.
BTW
How is that Duffy lake Rd now. I went through there last summer or maybe the one before that, and it was a little rough. I heard a rumor the Gov't did some work on it and it's in pretty good shape these days. Yes?

Yes it is good. Half the road from pemberton is new pavement. The other half is not too bad with most of the potholes filled in. Great ride for a bike with no transports and only a handful of rv's., and I've never seen a cop on that rode until you get close to Lillioet. The resturant at the bar has great food and service too.

I might take it the next time I head to see my folks in 100 Mile House.
"netnorski" might want to consider going that way instead of his planned route he has for his BC/AB/US ride in July. Thanks for the update "Johnny" take care!
