Should I replace my battery ?

Should I replace my battery before it starts to cause trouble or wait ? My nomad is a 2004 and still has the same battery it started life with. And where is the best place to buy a new one ? I'm thinking of replacing it before it gives me trouble just to on the safe side.

I think it's a good idea, seven years is a long time for a battery.

The 'Battery Warehouse' where I am at will load test your battery at no cost. I am sure others will too. This will let you know for sure your batteries condition to hold a charge and deliver the starting amps you need.

My oem battery lasted six years and died with very little warning.I think a new battery will give you the peace of mind you need when you are miles from home on a Sunday afternoon when everything is closed.

new battery? 08 with original battery didn't ride for two weeks and had the GPS plugged in but not on, only the red light was on for the gps charger and it was dead about two hours ago. I put the 12 amp. charger on for an hour and fired up left it run while I put the seats on and went for gas then a little ride. I hope this isn't the beginning of the end for the battery :-/

I replaced the battery in my 07 this spring.
Wasn't acting up or anything but I figure 4 years is good.
Going to the National and don't want mechanical problems if I can help it,
Getting tires changed next week.

Bug, what is this off topic stuff? You think this is a bunch of friends sitting around a table having a conversation or something? ;)

Bud Just a quick reply. Trailer is just a MC cargo trailer it is a Backpack 20 (20 CF) Got it from Mororvation Engineering. Just went to Sibley Iowa and picked it up Monday May16th 2011 so have not had it that long. Here is there web site http://motorvation.com/

I bought the same battery as DaBull (see above) for my 2003.

My OEM lasted 8 years...was still working fine but I did not want to press my luck any further.

My replacement battery is made by the same as my OEM (YUASA).

You can test batterys ya know....... A load test will tell whats up pretty well.

My June 06 Battery is as new still, but I do care for it well. I just got in after riding in 1/2 inch of rains. That totals 2 inches in the last 6 days.

Anyway right not the bike is parked and colling in the barn not on the charger and with the clock, OD, trip meter and volt meter all ON, and the volt meter isn't oem, and can be read 24/7 I am sure if I went out there this instant I would see 12.88.

You can't beat that with a stick. I plan to go for it, and get every last bit of use of that battery, and after that cast bullets.

The stock battery on my 05 was still working fine but the post on the top of the battery disintegrated. I replaced it 2 weeks ago.
