Bikers Down in Las Vegas
So far this year ten motorcyclists have been killed in Las Vegas. Two were due to their own stupidity. The rest to the stupidity of others.
What's more striking is that in the last 29 days four motor-patrolmen have been in serious collisions. All due to left turns in front of them under non-emergency conditions by someone on drugs or booze. The silver lining if there is one is that since the last motor-patrolman went down all of the news shows have been beating the drums to pay attention and look for bikes. Nonetheless, you still have to consider every one of them out to get you. Be safe and alert out there.

Ten motorcyclists killed already this year seems like a high number. We do have to really be alert when riding.

One of my sig-pics shows the accident clock; which clearly shows the majority of accidents occur from the front; however most particularly from the left-front.
Cages turning left in front of a motorcycle is the biggest culprit. Riding is without a doubt fraught with risk. As many say: "It isn't "if" you go down; but "when" you go down". Having recently experienced an accident; I will always wear a helmet, gloves, and the rest of the protective gear -- and always do my best to expect that every other vehicle is out to "get me". To everyone out there... ride safe and always be thinking that it might not go as you expect it to. ![]()

I have been riding a little over 40 years without tangling with a four wheeler.Yes,I know I'm lucky. My secret is to ride like I'm invisible and assume every car will change lanes or pull out in front of me.Now,let me go find some wood to knock on.

I've been down twice in 45 years. It is not fun. But when things happen, they happen. Be aware of whats going on, always.
