Hardbag light wiring
For those with lights on their hardbags, how did you run wiring to the bike?
Thanks ![]()

Hardbag light wiring
Drilled 2 small holes in the upper corner of bags and tapped into the light wiring under the seat. Used rubber grommets and a little silicone for weather proofing the bag

Hardbag light wiring
The wires on my Mini Tombstone lights run into the bags from the middle of the back of the light. Had to drill 3 holes. One for wires and two for mounting bolts. Rubber gasket came with each light so no need o to seal with silicone there. Ran the wires inside bag up to bracket that holds bag on and drilled another hole to exit wires. Put rubber grommet there.
I tapped into the brake/tail light wires. Also use connectors so you can unplug to remove bags when necessary. I used trailer connectors from Walmart.

Hardbag light wiring
2-1/4" Hole Saw right through the bag door w/duct tape holding wires all along the outside of the bags.
You're welcome, Tonya Harding

Hardbag light wiring
I did the same as those above...
One hole where the light is... used tape to hold the wires to the top of the bag (inside) and drilled a hole between the bag mounts. I bought some of the black plastic wire conduit to cover the wires. I spliced into the run/brake light wire under the seat with a trailer light connector. If I want to completely remove the bags, I have to remove the seat to unhook the connectors. I snaked the wires from the bags under the chrome trim alongside the fender.

Hardbag light wiring
I also used the mini tombstones. Requires 3 holes.
I bought two 3-pin connectors from eastern beaver so I can remove the bags. I decided to remove the stock blinkers and use the tombstones for my turn signals. Since I was also putting on a trailer hitch I used a Hoppy converter to work the turn/brake on the bag lights as well as the trailer. I used a load equalizer to fix the blink rate. I bought some double bullet connectors to tie into the bikes wiring. If the Hoppy goes out, no cutting required to remove and replace. I decided to run the wire into the saddlebag about 2" from the front and 4" from the bottom. That's in front of the shock and not in plain sight but easy to reach. In the flat spot that was left where the blinkers were I put a 1"x6" LED run/brake light.

Hardbag light wiring
I just posted pics of the lights. The 2 vertical brake lights are mounted to the bags.
