The nest is almost empty

Our 20 year old (and youngest) son is moving out on his own on Saturday. I thought I wouldn't live to see the day. He's the last to leave the nest. For the first time in nearly 29 years, it's just my wife and I again. I think we may look at downsizing to a smaller place next year.

I almost know the feeling Scott. My 24 yr old son, youngest, isn't here most of the time but my 5 yr old grandson has taken his spot.

It feels good, getting all of the kids out of the house. As soon as we are done paying for college we will start doing the things we've wanted to for years.

By the way Scott, if your new bike is a Harley be sure that your smaller place has a LARGE garage/ shop area, you're gonna need it.

Lucky you. We still have one left at home and she is the oldest @ 29. Definitely suffering from the "Failure to Launch" syndrome. You can rest assured that the day she moves, a for sale sign is going up on the front lawn and we are not giving either of the kids a forwarding address. ::) ::)

Not to change the subject, but I just noticed it's 70° here at 05:30 this morning. Gonna be a scorcher today! It's supposed to hit 98.

Ive got a 23 y/o daughter thats still in school but comes home most weekends. I know that whe will still be around for a couple years as she will be going to a university thats a lot closer next year. Maybe after that she will think about leaving the next.

Enjoy the empty nest while you can. My wife and I had 6 years just the two of us. It was awesome. Four years ago our youngest son and his girlfriend broke up. He moved home with a 9 month old baby girl. At 18 months she was diagnosed with autism. The three of us talked and worked out a future plan for her. They are here permanently now. She will be 5 in July. It takes the three of us to deal with the situation. I'm not sure how other families do it, but we are managing. Enjoy what freedom you get.

I stil have at least another 13 years for my youngest to skidaddle. At some point I may downsize of really right size. I will need less bedrooms, but I'd like a bigger garage. ::)
