Country Artist Mel McDaniel Dies
Roughly an hour ago country music singer Mel McDaniel passed away. An Oklahoma boy that made it big. Had hits with Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On, Stand On It and his and the hit that really launced his career Louisiana Saturday Night. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Country Artist Mel McDaniel Dies
Mel, was a great singer and probably never given the credit he was due. Had a rough time the last 15 years. Fell off the stage in 1996 and hurt him pretty bad. Then in 2009 he had a heart attack and was in a coma for a while. They didn't think he would pull through. Not sure but think cancer was what finally got him.

Country Artist Mel McDaniel Dies
His ballad of "Louisiana Saturday Night" was pretty accurate. We're going to a restaurant tonight to listen to French Cajun music and watch the old (older) folks jitterbug. Same place Gene (Wanderer) ate Alligator Sauce Picaunte. Always a good time on Louisiana Saturday Nights. Mel McDaniel was one of the best and most under rated.

We love to chow down on the creat cajun food, have a couple of beers and watch the folks dance and enjoy themselves at Mulate's in Breaux Bridge. Pat and I never misss an opportunity to go there! Aieeeeeeeeee!
