I have it but havn't ridden with it yet as it was installed late in Nov last year. It does seem to push you forward on the seat which I'm not sure that I will like. Plan on going solo setup after the national and may be able to move it back some with the rear saddle removed. Will probably take it off for the trip as the bag that I'm planning on using will be on the rear and act as a rest.

OK thanks. I know some mentioned that the Grasshopper is a forum member? and free shipping?
I didn't see anything regards to that? know anything about it? I looked at there website as well (I like the removable idea better) and I have a Mustang seat and they list one for it so maybe the bracket is slightly different. I am concerned of being pushed forward as well? I don't think I need to be any closer I'm 6 ft. and need to sit back a bit. When the wife is on I get pushed forward slightly (did before the trunk?) so if this does the same not sure I'd like that!!! Thanks again for the reply and info/pics of yours appreciate it. Scott

I also did not want to be any more forward than where I already am, so I decided to fork out the extra bucks and order the Utopia for my 1700 Nomad. I have had a couple of them on my GL1800 and Valkyrie, and they are a well made product. On the Wing, I had to cut through the seat with a long bread knife to install the brackets, but it came out perfect. I guess I'll have to do some cutting on the Nomad as well.
Sometimes, it's better to spend more up front, and get it right the first time. Take care, Eric Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Not sure I am comfortable cutting the Mustang seat to install this either. I have seen the one you take the COVER OFF and put the bracket on and then replace the cover (staple it down) and then slit the top for the bar. At the least that way you don't have to worry about slitting into it at a wrong angle and then redoing it. Wish they did this process for you on an exchange. For the price being I have to do my own installation you would think they would be a bit cheaper? Still not decided but that's a while off as I can (have for 8+ years) do without it for now. Thanks for the input. Scott

wonder how much different the 1500 and 1600 grasshopper backrests are? I got a Grasshopper for my 1600 for Xmas and have started riding with it this spring not sure I like it . Shoves me foward and sticks in my back but that may just be the way I set on a bike Sports Drive is going to redo my set and he said he would guarentee it to be better than the stock seat and not hurt lower back. May have a grasshopper for sale if this fixes my seat.
