Getting ready to ride soon =D

My wife Patricia and I rode 2-up to church today. This was her first time in the saddle since the crash on Sept. 5, 2010. We took the same route as on crash day. It was good for both of us and Patricia is looking forward to having her own bike again soon. The next fair weather day we get off together she would like to test ride the 2006, VN-900 that's available at the local dealership. Its missing a few of the options that she wants and has some scratches that she doesn't want. So. . . here is a shout out to the KawaNOW family for anyone looking to sell a 2006 or newer VN-900. She wants a windshield (not a fairing), Hard bags, and no body damage. We were thinking of doing a Mini-Nomad if it works out that way. Mine's black, but the new one doesn't have to be.

I don't know of any vn-900 for sale but congrats to both of you for getting back on the horse. I am sure it was hard and maybe a little scary

You might check VROC, the Delphi Vulcan Forum or the Beartooth forum. Those are frequented by owners of all Vulcans, not strictly Nomads. You might have a better chance of finding a 900 for sale.

You could also check eBay and Craigslist. Glad you guys are back on a bike again. Taking the same route was the smart thing to do. Nothing will help get your nerves back like retracing where it happened. I have been there and done that. Little nervous at first but once I was there I was okay again.

Check all the usual places, as mentioned above. Just wanted to give you both a big "congrats" for getting back on the bikes after your accident. Your wife will really like the 900. Ann loves hers.

Kudos's to getting back in the saddle. I know how hard that can be as it took a year and a very good friend to get me back on a bike after I was in a accident. Bud insisted that I needed to get back on and ride with him. I still haven't ridden a bike through the area of the accident and not sure if I will ever be able to do that. I do enjoy riding but the wife hates the fact that I'm back on a bike. Told me If she ever got another call like the last one I had better be dead or she would make sure of it.

When Patricia and I were getting back together (after 24 years apart) she was saying things like "If you don't like the idea of me getting my own motorcycle, I don't think we will work out very well".
When she was well enough to take her first ride (second seat) she was the one who said "Let's take the same route as on crash day".
I don't think anyone (including me) could hold this gal back with shackles and chains.

I wonder if a 900 after making it a "mini Nomad" would be different enough from a Nomad in size or weight that you couldn't just buy her a Nomad? A nice low mileage 1500 from around 2003 would cost half what buying a 08 900 then adding $2000 in accessories would cost. Lowering is very easy but the seat heights are almost the same to start with.

Her main reason for dropping some CC's is the difference in weight.
My only concern is that she is interested in what she chooses.
We will be using the $ from the insurance on her V-Star to do the buying. That should be enough either way she decides to go.
Its going to be a cold one around hear, but Saturday looks like test ride day. Then the search gets more serious.

Pictures to follow. . .
Patricia test rode several nice bikes today and chose a 2009 Suzuki C50T 800cc Boulevard. We had to add some $$$ to what we got for the totaled V-Star, but the Boulevard had never been out of the showroom. They had a used one for the test ride, then loaded up the fluids and battery on the new one for the ride home.
=D She's a very happy girl =D

Good for her! My wife rode my old Volusia(previous version of C50) a few times, but always said it was too big. She recently got a Vulcan 900, which is her third bike, and loves it. I think the 900 and the C50 are very close in size and weight, and it is a great bike. Reliable and comfortable. My wife could ride my Nomad as well, but is really paranoid about the weight and the stretch to the ground. She is only 5'2, and riding down the road is no problem. It's what is required when coming to a stop, and trying to walk it into a space that's the difficult part! ;)

The last pic was sent from my cell phone to E-mail then to P-bucket. I'll try again later with a different camera.
