I said raingear not reindeer.
We are lookin' to upgrade our rain gear. I have a frog tog jacket with a broken zipper so not lookin' for frog togs.
It needs to be breathable and absolutely water proof.
What do you guys use and have good results with?

I've had Technic and Firstgear, both were good at keeping the rain out and the sweat in. I have a new set but haven't used it yet. It is more nylon and is softer then the others were.

There is a comparison of some rain gear in this month's road runner magazine if that helps. I have had a couple of sets, currently the frog toggs, but haven't found any yet that will keep you completely dry in a hard rain if you continue to ride. Those that will keep you dry from the rain leave you soaking wet from the sweat! The best answer I have got when I asked the question in the past is a hotel will keep you dry and comfortable

Sorry, I should have said I had, had those two brands to let you know they weren't as breathable as they had stated in there literature. And that I wasn't all that happy with them. I have a new set, in the bike in the shed, I can't remember the name of them, but they seem far superior to what I had. ;)

Ive used a yellow rubber raincoat and while it doesn't breathe much, it does keep the rain out.
Since I only use it about 3-4 times a season I havn't rushed out to replace it yet. But when I do, there is a nylon jacket that I think is made by Viking, but Im not positive about that. They are not really a motorcycle rainsuit but I think it will work quite well.
They're sold here at our Marks Work Warehouse stores for $75.00

Steve, Viking is from Marks, I have the jacket and it is very good in the rain.
For the motorcycle my wife and I both have GKS11 2 piece suits by a company called Ganka. They are 100% water proof nylon with nylon PU tech, what ever that is, but they do breath quite well and keep the rain out for the most part. By that I mean ride long enough in heavy rain and it doesn't matter what you wear, it will start to seep somewhere. All and all we are very pleased with them.

We use Carhartt jackets and pants. It is a heavier duty and a bit spendy....but dry as hell and bulletproof. They are breathable and the pants have zippered sides like chaps. Outstanding quality. You could ride through a hurricane in this stuff and come out the other side dry.....I kid you not.

Are those just like the regular Carhartt duck material or is it an actual rain suit?

I have a set of Road Toads and the jacket zipper kept separating and then the right pant leg got too close to my exhaust and became even more breathable. Considering what they cost, I was disappointed.

I bought a Motoboss 2-piece set on sale at Cycle Gear, for the few times I need them every year, they are okay. They certainly keep me dry.

Norm; I will probably try the Viking suit from Marks, I have a $120.00 credit to use up at Marks. Thats my main reason for choosing that model. It looks like it will do the job for the amount of times I'll use it.

I recognize that pic Chris. That was taken at my local Tim Hortons last year. That is heavy duty gear Chris and I bet perfect for wet and cold. I have tried many things but have Frogg Toggs that are 4 years old with no zipper problems. I do have a leg guard on the right. With all due respect to other gear, nylon melts just as well as the Frogg Togg material. It's the only gear I have ever had that does keep you dry and really does breathe. It's also ultra light and packs easy.

I should have mentioned I would like the rain gear to be packable. I like to have it with me at all times.

Kris, I like the thought of the Carhartt but I think they would take up to much room in my saddlebags.

nomadtom69 , I had just the regular Frog Toggs.
Are the Road Togs more durable?
