Windshield for Reckless Fairing

I'd like to order a 12" windshield from Clear-view windshields, with the re-curve, as seen here:

http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=11

I emailed Reckless fairings last week, and asked if their fairing, which I bought, was the same bolt pattern as a HD street Glide, being it's basically a HD Bat-wing

I haven't received a response from them yet, and was wondering, the bolt pattern is the same as HD,. from what it appears.

Anyone know if their fairings accept the HD windshields, and if so, what model, I'm assuming a Street Glide ?

Street Glide, Electra Glide, and Ultra Classic "3 bolt" shields fit the Reckless fairing.

Windshield for Reckless Fairing

I have the 12" Ultra Classic Shield on the Reckless Fits like a glove.. Im 6ft3 and find it a tad to tall for me.. GREAT protection but find myself looking through it rather then over it..If I sit straight up its ok,, But I do not sit straight up all the time,So I find the 8" is good for me.. BUT I would say for the lonr trips the 12" would make a very nice ride

Thanks, I like looking through it, rather then over myself. I wanted protection also for my wife in the rear, so I was on Clearviews website, and looking at their 12" and 14" to 15.5 windsheilds

Now that I see a 12" on yours, It may be perfect for me.

I'm only 5'-9", and add another 2" for my wife in the rear, so I'm figuring maybe 12" -14" possibley smoke windsheild.

Thats the 8" on mine, the 12" LOOks real nice..Offers me GREAT protection, so with the 12" or taller you 2 should be in a quiet zone :) ClearView makes a GREAT shield.. When I get another shield that is one I would be thinking of.....

For me the 12" gave me the the most quietest ride as far as air flow.... If I rember right TC on site here has the Clear View,, Great company great customer service...
As for the Reckless you painter will like the prep job he will have to do :) Very little :) The quality IMO is very good and the price is great....The 1500 needed alittle tweaking to square up the headlight tunnell and the 1600 was nuts on, The ride behind the Fairing blows the windshield away..Handling is better and less buffering from wind or passing trucks..IMO...\
from what I have read Harley s Batwing style fairing offers the best protection and handling over other styles.........

Was your 12" from Clear-view?

My painter was very surprised at the quality of the fairing, especially for $300 shipped :)

The last fairing I bought for my VTX was from Wide Open, and it had $400.00 alone of prep work from the body shop, before painting it. I couldn't believe when I took the fairing outta the box from Reckless, how smooth the finish, and how nice of a fairing it was

I agree, the protection behind the fairing is allot better than a windshield.

I'm going to buy the hard fiberglass lowers also for it, If I remember they were $189.00 with free shipping for KawaNOW members.

I can't wait to have it all complete, I just built a $15K touring bike for half the price, and will have a beautiful bike and built the way I wanted it done :)

I'm 6'1", and currently have the 8" windshield on my fairing. I had a 10" on there before and can't tell any difference between the two in terms of buffeting, etc. I can feel the airflow above my helmet if I stick a hand up there.

also, do you have a close up, of the taller one tinted?

I like the tinted color on black

Hows it for night riding? And are you looking through it, or over it?

Both the 8" and 10" direct the airflow over my head. I can easily see over the 8", I found myself looking through the 10" on occasion. I'd suspect unless you are really tall, you'd be looking through the 12" most of the time.

Sorry, no close up pictures. That's the 10" in the pictures without the tourpack on and the 6" in the other. The 6" is very dark tint because you don't look through it.

Thanks for the links :)

They want $229 for the Klock works windsheild, and Clearview with the re-curve wants $119.00, and I know the re-curve works great

I'll probabley order the 12", but my fairing should be back from the painter in a few days, so I'll wait to install it, then take some measurments
