Stock exhaust system drilled out, 1600 Nomad
I removed my stock exhaust system today, along with the Goat Belly,, and installing V&H exhaust.
I dont plan on re-installing them if I ever sell the bike, so I figured if somone had loud exhaust, or somthing, and wanted to go back to stock, here's your chance $50.00 plus shipping, for the entire system. I'll only charge what the shipping cost, plus the box ect. So I'm figuring you should have a complete stock exhaust for around $100.00 shipped to your door. They came off a 2006 Nomad 1600, with 8K miles, and are in great condition, bike was garage kept, but they are used and 5 years old now. PS, the previous owner drilled out the rear to make it more of a rumble over stock. They still sounds way to quite for my taste, but they were drilled out I accpet pay-pal also! That is a very reasonable price. I am still stock so don't need them. Now if you were selling the Vance & Hines for $50 I might be interested. Have you got the new pipes installed? If so how does it sound to you now?

I always kept the stock just in case the noise/emission nazi's decided to crack down. I'd hate to not be able to renew the registration, or be forced to pay a dealer the list price for factory stuff. That said I'm sure it will never happen, but hey, crazier things...

Yeh, I figured $50.00 bucks to pass on the a good deal to the fellow members
The pipes at the ends, he took a tool or somthing, and removed the ends inside? I'm not sure I can take pics, but from what I was told, I guess theres a 2" plate back in the end of the pipe, and a small hole for the exhaust to come out in the middle, and he removed that pc. It sounds " Ok ", gives it alittle rumble, but way to quite still for me. If you like the stock sound, you'll like these, cause they are quite Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Marco
You'd be real smart to sit on your stock exhaust for about 6 months. Alot of people (me included) put the V&H on , then find they are just too loud (they are the loudest of the aftermarket systems available for our bikes) and either remove them completely or replace the mufflers or modify the baffles. You may love them and you may not but just offering a word of advice. I have helped three friends put V&H on their Nomads. I have helped one remove them, helped another add stove pipe wrap and tin to his baffles to quiet them down a bit and the other removes his baffles when ever his wife dosen't ride cause even the V&H in stock form weren't lound enough for him.

Yeh, My friend Jim today said to hold onto them as well. I like loud pipes, and had them on my VTX, along with HD 3" on the VTX, etc. I tend to like loud pipes, but not so loud you get a headache after riding them for a hour
I'll probabley put the quite baffels in them, just to tone them down just a bit, and make more of a rumble Not sure yet, I was thinking of selling the stock one, not for the $50 bucks, I couldnt care about that, but to help a fellow member out that was in need of them Maybe I'll just hold onto them to see how the V&H sound |

For those that want to tone down their V&H pipes if they find them to loud can go to Gadgets Fixit sight, he has an article there on making a quieter baffle fo them. I never have have them to be too loud though. Alot has to do with how hard you twist the throttle, and that is easily controlled.

If you think they are too quite, Id bet you'd like the ultimate baffles for them. Im sure you would find them just right.
Take a look on our Tech boards, we have a plan there on how to make them.

I'm thinking the existing owner put baffles in them. They are just to quite
I'll pull them out tomorrow, and take a look |
