MP3 hook-up/help

I run an MP3 player when I ride. I try to keep it simple. I put the player in my pocket and run the phones up to my ears.
I would like to hard wire to the bike and add an FM set that plugs into the MP3, any suggestion . I saw something on Gadgets ( toilet sleeve with a foam over lay, looks reasonably good when finished!
Would the MP3 plug into the cigarette lighter (USB}
Thanks Joe

You could add a fairing with a stereo and connect the MP3 player to it.

Before I installed my fairing, I used an MP3 player mounted to the handlebars in a RAM mount. I had a 12v car adapter that I plugged into my accessory outlet to power the player. I ran a 6' or 8' headphone extension cable from the RAM mount, along the bars, under the tank, and the female end came up just in front of the seat. I plugged my earbuds/helmet speakers into that cable.

Not all MP3 players are the same. I have a 30GB Microsoft Zune. I was able to buy a car adapter for it, and that's what I used. Just like using a car charger for a cell phone or GPS.

I attached a windshield bag to the inside mounting bolts and ran all the wires into and out of the bottom corners of bag.

Here's a photo showing my set up. {This was done for "the shop" when the bike was getting fixed. Disregard the info pointing to the removable face plate. The shop was looking for the face plate and asked me if I had it.}

I have stereo with a USB connection in the back of it. I run a cable from there to the frt. of the fairing, where I then connect a USB cable from the iPod to the frt. of that connection.

I am thinking this little adapter would give you simplicity and flexibility if you already have a power port.

here it is again without the ipod. It's a bit difficult to see, being chrome, but it wraps the handle bar.

I looked on ebay for them but they don't seem to be there any more.

Great idea's, now I'm more confused! Thanks guys, I already have a windshield bag so that's possible and I'm gonna buy the Elego adapter. Just bought a grass Hopper backrest and chuckster's light bar, it doesn't look like there's a fairing in my future anytime soon.

I have a MP3 player mounted on my handbars, and under it it has a chrome voloum control mounted right under it. makes it easy to change songs etc , and I mounted speakers and a amp under the seat, so the music comes outta the external speakers on my handle bars

The whole set up cost aorund $300.00

Joe, I'll try and get a couple pics later today and post.

You can get power from one of the spare leads under the fuel tank at the left front or fro the headlight bucket.
