Tourpak storage

As some of you know, I removed my tourpak and passenger seat in favor of a solo look during the winter. I wanted to get my tourpak stored out of the way so it wouldn't get damaged.

Here's what I came up with. I used a piece of scrap oak I had laying around and built a wall-mount for it. I used a piece of particle board down below to prevent the Wompus rack from damaging the sheetrock.

I used 2-1/2" screws to attach the mount to the studs in the wall. I could do chin ups on it.

Years ago a neighbor asked me to troubleshoot an outdoor receptacle that quit working. I found out that he just installed a new set of shelves in the garage. A little checking with a meter and I found 120 volts

on one of the metal shelf brackets that were attached to the wall with 2 1/2" screws. One of the bracket screws penetrated and seperated the romex in the wall. You will find water pipes in those walls also. Although they're pretty obvious when you upset them.

Be careful out there.

Looks good CJ....but I'll bet that was fun holding the tour pack up while you placed the hanging bolts....or did momma help you out there....?? Geez.....wall space in a garage.....what a concept!

Nope, I can hang it and remove it by myself. The bolts are threaded into the wood, so they don't move. There's enough flex in the Wompus rack arms so I can just slip each end over the bolts and onto the vinyl tubing I padded the threads with, then just screw a nut on the bolts to keep it from going anywhere. The entire assembly (rack and tourpak) weighs maybe 30 pounds, so it's not too hard to handle.
