My heated gear arrived
Yesterday my Gerbing's heated jacket liner and glove liners arrived along with the dual temp controller. Of course I had to hook everything up and go for a ride.
I bought the liners instead of the jacket for two reasons. 1. I figured the liner would compress into my saddlebag easier for those days when you leave in 75 degrees and return in 40 degrees. (I was right the liner jacket, glove liner and temp controll will live in my side bags in all but the hottest time of year. 2. Much cheaper than the finished gear. Last night it was hoverind around 30 degrees. I made two thirty minute rides. 1. Jacket liner: The only word to describe it is "Awsome" Warm the entire time. I didn't have it turned up the entire way so I was warm but not hot. the one draw back is that the sleeves have a compression cuff that will not allow me to take it off with the jacket so I have to take the leather jacket off then the liner. (small price to pay for the convenience of having it in the saddlebag when I need it.) 2. Gloves My hand size is right at the top of the medium sizing so reading that they should be snug I ordered the medium. They fit and they are tight. Unfortunately I chose to wear a set of summerweight gloves over them that have some meash in them. This meant that I turned it up to high. MY fingers were still a bit chilly but not like they would have been. However I had a hot spot on my left hand that raised blisters. (I think with all leather gloves I can turn it down enought to avoid burning my hand but I will call their technical number today to find out.) Overall I would not hesitate to recommend heated gear to anyone who is doing cold weather riding. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Gerbings is the way I would go too. My problem is as soon as we get a dusting of snow the road crews start dumping salt, then the bike gets parked. My silk liners under regular gloves are only good down to the mid 40s

Sounds like that will allow you some extra riding time this year.

It was 15* here yesterday.
I ran the gloves wide open. But they did keep my hands warm. I still have to keep the jacket liner turned down or it gets too warm. It'll be in the single digits here next week. We'll see how they do. |

My heated gear arrived
Started out today at 28˚ and I have ridden as low as 23 with this bike. The heated seats and grips do the job, but I would like to get electric clothes, specifically pants. My core is fine, but my thighs get cold. I was thinking the over pants as I can take them off at work. The liners might not be comfortable to wear all day and to take them off would be more of a chore. Other than that, I'll probably get a balaclava.

I wear my Gerbing liners under mittens or loose fitting glove shells. Wore them the day before yesterday in mid-20s for an hour+ highway commute each way. Comfortable.
I recommend Gerbing.

Just got off the phone with Gerbings about the hot spot in the glove. Long story short. They are mailing me a new pair of liner gloves with a prepaid return label just in case there is something wrong with the ones that burned my hand. Now that is what I call customer service.

Gerbings.... ;) :) :) :) ! I just bought a pair of G3 gloves to go with my jacket liner. Had to buy a splitter to plug into the liner so the gloves would work too as I only have a single controller....but geez....the whole package is worth every penny!
