Great deals on torque wrenches

I ordered a 1/4" drive 20 - 200 inch pounds torque wrench for $19.99 and a 3/8" drive 5 - 80 foot pounds torque wrench for $13.99 both from Harbor Freight. For the DIY jobs I do on the Nomad, these wrenches will be sufficient. Both delivered to my door for $44.69. Great value IMO.

Great deals on torque wrenches

Harbor Freight sends me a sale email almost daily. I have to keep telling myself that I don't need tools that I done without for 60 years. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

I seem to have bought a few tools I rarely use as well. It seems like a really good idea when you see them at the store though.

There's no such thing as having too many tools.

My son is a heavy truck mechanic, and he's invested around 30 grand in his tools. Yet I can go over to his house and he has to hunt to find a phillips screwdriver. ::)

I have all 3 HF torque wrenches (1/2, 3/8, 1/4) they are fine for what I need them for.

To allow us lessor beings who do not have calibrated forearms to properly tighten nuts and bolts so stuff doesn't fall off while we're cruising along at 70 mph. Or . . . it just looks cool when we use them.

Harbor Freight has some good tools and a bunch of stuff thats not so good, don't know if I would buy a torque wrench there. Do you know how easy it is to pull the threads out of an aluminum engine ? A miscalibrated torque wrench could easily perform that task.

I will bring them to work and check them against our Snap-On torque wrenches before using them. If they aren't close, I'll calibrate them myself or return them. I've come across several good reviews on HF's torque wrenches and bad reviews on many of their power tools and air compressors. Most of their stuff comes from China. There are several members who have enough confidence to lift their bikes 16" off the slab on a HF jack. I've heard of more problems with the Craftsman jacks than the HF jacks. You just need to carefully research before buying.

Great deals on torque wrenches

Like Mitch, I investigate a little before I buy HF tools. Often, I may use them only a couple of times and they will probably do the job good enough for me. I do not need high dollar snap on type stuff. I really like the value of HF motorcycle wheel chalks .

I won't buy HF drill motors. I have found them to fail too soon. I like the value/performance of DeWalt electric drills and Ryobi cordless.

Great deals on torque wrenches

If they are close to being accurate, they are a good buy. Go price a Craftsmen torque wrench. Personally, I'm hoping my brother gives me one of his old ones. He is a retired diesel mechanic and has 3 full boxes of Snap-On stuff that he had to rent a low-boy trailer to bring them home on.

HF has some good items, but I have broken too many tools from them to purchase anything else from them.

Happiness is finding a Craftsman torque wrench at a garage sale and getting it cheap!

I may have been better off waiting for a garage sale......They shipped nearly 2 weeks ago and I haven't received anything yet. They may be coming direct from China.
