#1 So are they still producing these models from the 20's and 30's?
#2 Are these particular companies still building MC's? If so: a.) What brand name are they using? b.) What models are they building today? c.) Where are they being sold? d.) Did the HD blueprints lead to the Japanese Big Four? This is the assignment for the winter months. Should you choose to accept the assignment, it will be due by April 1st 2011. Should you choose not to accept, grab another beer. It's football Sunday!

Loafer that is a big list to work on. It would take me all winter to do. Other than NASCAR on Sunday there is nothing on television. I don't watch pro football. I do Saturdays though and college football.

Harley in Japan
In the mid '70's HD came stock with a Kihiem (misspelled) carb on the 74ci instead of the original Bendix, which was a solid dependable carb. Kihiem (still misspelled) was made in Japan. I love it when some HD riders say they ride an American made bike. I know a fella that belongs to a riding organization (membership is by profession only) that requires members to own and ride only HD. He told me that I would have to buy an American made bike to join, I asked him to let me know when he found one. He did not find the humor in that. There was a rumor many years ago that HD sold a large amount of stock to wholely owned companies from Japan.
Thanks for your time

Harley in Japan
I took a Harley maintenance course at the local college awhile back [the generic bike maintenance was booked solid with a long waiting list].
The class included some typical Harley dudes and some bike enthusiasts. The instructor was a Brit who was a maintenance foreman at a large Harley dealer in town. When he was covering carbs, everybody in the class was speechless. Because the carbs he was talking about were Japanese. Since then I don't give a $hit when they call my bikes Jap crap. |
