Looks like another strike out for Kumbiya tactics

Guess the "new and improved" attempt to solve problems in the middle east are succeeding as well as the previous administrations have over the years......

Dont think this will ever be resolved, it goes a lot deeper than just they dont like each other. Sounds like most of the time the only solution from one side is "They must be destroyed" which doesnt leave much room for "lets have a group hug" tactics.

AND the tactics we use in the USA of tolerance are not part of their belief system.... or so it would appear.

They are not sincere in trying to find a compromise that will work. Their problems will never end, because it is religious.

Whoever it was that said 'Money is the root of all evil' didn't give enough consideration to organized religion.

I believe the original quote is “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” Timothy, 6:10.
So, it seems the two are somehow related.

I think more wars have been fought over religion than any other reason.

The middle east people are all tribal based. They fight each other, then unite to fight a common enemy, then go back to fighting each other. It has been that way for hundreds of years.

In the 80s I had a Professor who was teaching accounting, he was born in Iraq and emigrated legally to the U.S. . After class one day we had an interesting discussion. He told me that the U.S. will never undertand the tribal mentality, and thats why peace efforts will fail.

He told me his family still living, lived in a courtyard in Bagdhad, across the way was another family. 200 years ago some one in the other family killed one of his relatives. He said his relatives still talk about how they are going to extract revenge for that killing.

He shook his head and said " How can you ever expect peace with that kind of mentality".

He was one of the nicest and best teachers I had.

DD you are right, we do not understand them. We don't understand the tribal mentality and we don't want to, or refuse to understand the tenents of Islam. We need to just pick a side and support that side or get the hell out and stop trying to solve everyone else' problems.

It never ceases to amaze me how every single President gets his fingers into the Middle East Peace Talks pie and gets them burned. We never learn. Our arrogance causes us more problems than we can even begin to imagine.

And those of you who bemoan the attrocities committed in the name of religion are spot on. Too bad. The attitude that says "you have to adhere to my view of God and salvation" makes me sick.
