West TX mountains, Chili fest and Big Bend NP

I will be headed out to TX over the holloween weekend. Going to meet friends just east of Dallas then ride back roads through the mountains to the Big Bend NP area. Staying in Alpine four days to ride and to do some Chili tasting and maybe drink a little beer in Terlingula. Chili fest is Nov 4,5,6 and if any one's going to be out there at the same time let me know. Maybe we can meet up.
T Ross

I am trailering the bike to a little spot in the middle of no where about 100 miles due east of Dallas. Meeting a buddy from east Texas and we are going to ride the rest of the way to the west edge of TX then down the Rio Grand until we hit Big Bend NP then we will play for a few days on the best motorcycle roads in TX and eat some chili and drink some beer.
Holly Nirvana Bat Man, does it get any better than this???

Be careful along the border. It's been bad around Laredo.

No foolin guys. What Mitch said. We used to go into Larado quite a lot, but I wouldn't go within fifty miles of the border right now at any point. Take care. Enjoy the ride. Would love to join ya, but work interferes with fun. (i gotta work on that).

It is really dangerous around the border. Do be careful.

Well, seems like this is the year that no rides come off with out a hitch. Made it to Athens TX then 2 days of rain delayed the fun and on the first day out death in friends family and hospitalization of my wife brough me first back to Athens and then home to Jax.

Wife is out of hosp and doing fine as of Sat PM but Big Bend NP remains on bucket list.

There is always next year!

Glad to hear the wife's OK. Nothing lasting or serious, I hope. Anyway, at the end of the day, it's family that counts. All else is just extra blessings.

Thanks All

Wife's deal was pretty scary at first, rushed to hosp for suspected heart attack (runs in her family) while I was 1200 miles away. Good thing she has close friends at work to care for her till I got home. 3 days in hosp and loads of test and they decide she tore/strained the ligaments between ribs over heart and under left arm when she was getting suitcase down from rafters in garage (cause I wasn't around) for a business trip that came up after I left.

Other 4 trips this year were all done "under water" so I am looking forward to next year being a better deal!

I know how it's like. When I was sailing, the very same thing sat in the back of my mind, what if something happens to my family when I'm in the middle of nowhere.

Glad your wife is doing better now and sorry for your friends loss.

Speedy recovery.

E.
