rattle or noise

I have a question..... seems like I read on here a long time ago, that someone said there was some sort of chain or something inside the casing on the motor that would strech or loosen and rub the casing.........maybe I sound silly, but I've got a constant noise, rattle, or chirping while riding my bike, and I can't find anything loose or rattling on the outside... I've banged on and wiggled everything, and don't get any noise..... It started out with just a small rattle, and now has grown to a constant rattling or chirping type noise....... any suggestions would be appreciated... otherwise, I guess, I'll just keep on riding until something falls off of it........thanks ronnie
