Solenoid Question

Do the solenoids clatter just on cold start up or can you hear them all the time?

Solenoid Question

Just unplug one wire from each, tape it up so it does not short out on anything. The bike will run the same except for cold start. You will notice it will not idle correctly until warm. Pull the so called choke knob out when you cold start until the bike warms up a little. If you don't like the way the bike starts and the chatter does not bother you than just plug them back in.

No harm, no fowl!

Solenoid Question

I did (note past tense) hear they all the time. They are now gone and so is the clatter.

I decided to disconnect the two white wires and put some heat shrink on the ends.Took her for a test drive and what a difference in the noise level. .I didn't have any problems cold starting and idling but it was 92 degrees at the time.Monday is debaffle day and that should just about get the Nomad where I want it.Thanks again everyone for the replies.

Good for you. Get chucksters coaster soon not much $ and we can get rid of some junk you don't need for a cleaner looking engine.

Chucksters coasters come with all the new shiney chromed bolts you need too. You can polish the coasters to clear coat or sand a little to roughen them prime and paint satin black.

Solenoid Question

A chuckster is a man here who is a machinist, and offers us some wicked good parts. he makes intakes, and if I am not in error you bought his 7 inch intake set up. He makes cam chain extenders which we must have at around 26,000 miles to 33,000 milles, and coasters which are plates to use when you want to remove or shut down the ICS's which you just did.

He makes other items we all like too. Oddly he and i have never exhanged a word so far as I know, but I seen his work, and so I am willing to promote his work.

The next step to get rid of junk like what I call Medusa's Head because that's what it looks like is Chucksters Coasters.

With 2 of these and the 4 bolts he sends, you can get rid of the reed valve which are no longer working, and all the hoses and tubings, plud the vac valve, every all of it except one little vac line tubing which you have the choice of capping after removing or keeping and plugging off air tight.

Doing the ISC's you are partly done now.

Solenoid Question

Mac - you are calling the solenoids 'ICS's. Just curious what technical term that stands for?

Also, I recently unplugged those solenoids and all is well but there is still some chatter from the lifters. So I'm wondering, how much lifter noise is normal. ?? -Cal
