fi2000r question again
ok sorry for asking, because am sure it has been answered before, I just could not find it in search.
am getting the FI2000r for my 2008 Nomad, I have V&H baggers and a K&N oem replacement filter. Does it come with the settings for this set up already or do I have to set it myself and if I have to set it what is the best setting to start out with? thanks Login or Register to Remove Ads |

fi2000r question again
I'd start with the factory recommended settings and tweak it from there until you find the best combination.

fi2000r question again
factory settings should be 3-5-0 ! have tweeked mine to 2.5-4.5 -0. can still run 87 octane with no ping, getting acceptable mpg, and still gettin good performance.

fi2000r question again
It will come with instructions on how to install the unit. It should be set from the factory at 3-5-0. Like Mitch said start there and you can tweak it from there to see what works best for you. One other thing be sure and run most of your gas out before attempting to raise the tank. It will make it a lot easier to do. You could drain the gas but it is much more fun just to ride it down to almost empty.

fi2000r question again
With the air set up as you have it the book setting is likey to be overly rich on pot 1.
If it were me I would set all pot to off and work up pot 1 alone. To best rpm. pass that till the engine screems too rich and work back past best to lean. Work back to best once more and leave it just higher by a twitch than best rpm. Then set pot 2 to book spec and go test it. Go somewhere you won't piss of people or get busted running 1/4 miles runs. make a few runs not shifting past 3rd gear trying to scare the pants off you. Next drop pot 2, 1 number to 4 and repeat the runs again. better/worse? If it was better drop the pot again, if was worse pass to setting 6 and repeat better/ worse? Find the most romp you can get this way. Pot 3 is a no brainer it's off and stays off. Working this way is the best way, and if idle rpm goes into orbit as you work up pot 1 lower idle with the black knob under the right side dog bowl and refine pot 1 more then.
