1500 dog bowl

Any one know what size the 1500 dog bowl covers are? I would like to see if they would fit over a 7" x 2" E-3402 K&N filter.

Mine is a 8 1/2" x 1 1/2" on my bike. Im not sure if a 2" filter would fit inside without a gap around the edge.

This is the idea behind Chucksters backing plates, so as to have the oem dog bowl(s). He makes these for one side mounts and or 2 sides mounts, rendering the left side pretty much just for looks.

Yup, thats what I have on my Nomad, but I'm trying to help a friend with his 1500 classic redneck an air intake that the old owner messed up. "FUBAR" was my first impression.

What backing plates will be used?

I am just guessing the Nomad and the Classic use the same backing plates stock. I don't know that for sure.

I do know no 7 inch filter will fit on a sock backing plate fer beans. But the spector 9 inch will so long as the cover is also the spector 9 inch cover and the backing plates gets a foam seal hardware store storm door seal foam, self sticking kind in the sealing groove on the stock Nomad style backing plate, asssuming the backing plates are the same.

I'll get a better look at it Saturday after we remove the tank, all the duct tape and golf tee's from the vac lines :( It's a wonder it runs at all. He has a box of parts that were removed by the kid that owned it before and I was not sure if Chucksters backing plate would work on a 1500 classic as the dog bowls looked smaller at first glance.

I think a set of Chucksters coaster plates and a 9 inch spectre might be the fix. Why would any one try to put a HD air cleaner on a Vulcan is beyond me ???
