Last football season as coach

This coming season will be my last on the sidelines as a coach. I have coached in some capacity for almost 30 years, this will be my 28th and final year at our school. It will be a sad day when the season ends.

But on a brighter note, the reason for the end of that part of my career is that I was just named Athletic Director of our school. It will be an opportunity to work in athletics but not have the day to day grind of practices and such things.

So, all in all, it will be sad night when the regular season ends on November 12, but I am happy with the new position and look forward to the new challenges it gives me. Plus, I will get to ride more because I won't have to worry about all the game planning in the fall, just Friday night games!

Just a different way to better serve the students at your school, and you'll be in position of power to do what's best for the athletic department. Terri and I are very happy for you and wish you all the best!

Congrats there Ron. Is this a promotion of demotion??? Outside helping the kids or stuck behind a desk??? ;) With your weather, stuck behind a desk in AC is a promotion.

Congratulations Ron!

I was wondering if some one would pick up on the Attention Deficit thing when I saw Mike's AD after your name.

When I first starting reading this I thought it might be bad news like your school was loosing it's Athletics program or something. Glad that it turned out to be good news.

Besides as Athletic Director you get to look over the new coach's shoulder and 2nd guess his decisions so it will sort of be like you are still coaching!

Oh my goodness! I didn't realize when I was typing that that acronym had been taken. I just be darn. ::) I had that disability way back when it was still fashionable for teachers and parents to cure it by beating you senseless or until they got tired or something. :-[

Didn't you pick up on that on the last trip where I crossed Potts Creek about three or four time and got confused and come unhinged ???

Oh yeah, congratulations on your advancement! I got distracted yesterday and forgot to say it.

I reckon this gets the retirement can drop kicked further down the road.
