hazard lights

Has anybody installed a switch to convert turn signals into hazard lights?
I know there is a few different ways to do it, just wondering what nomad riders have done ???

Denis, go to Gadgets Fixit sight and he has an article on how to install a four way flasher on the Nomad.

Denis this is something I have been toying with doing also. As a switch I though I would rewire and use the park positon of the ignition switch. I think turning on the tail light only is pretty useless.

A very good idea, don't understand why hazard flashers weren't installed by the factory.

I haven't but it can be done. It isn't often I need that function, and so when I do I run the turn signal, which is more or less the old EURO way, before there were 4 way flashers.

hazard lights

I just finished installing 4-way flashers yesterday and they work great. I followed Gadget's instructions:

http://www.gadgetjq.com/flashers.htm

I couldn't find the "double pole double throw" toggle switch at my local auto parts stores but discovered that Radio Shack has them that are rated for 10 amps (Part #2751533 $3.69). As mentioned in Gadget's article, the biggest problem is deciding where to locate the switch. There is a piece of black plastic immediately in front of the gas tank whose only purpose is to cover various wires going up to the front of the bike. I drilled a hole roughly in the center of this plastic cover and installed the switch there. I ran a hot wire directly off the battery through a 10amp fuse, then into and out of the flasher unit that I located under the seat, then ran the wire under the side of the gas tank to the toggle switch. I then ran two more wires, one off of each pole on the switch, back under the seat where I spliced one into the green turn signal wire and the other into the gray turn signal wire. I used small cable ties on the three wires to neaten them up.

I wanted to have the flashers for Patriot Guard funeral escorts since they usually ask those who have flashers on their bikes to turn them on. Most Harley's have them as standard equipment.

I want to do this as well, but I will wait until I get my fairing installed so I can locate the switch somewhere on the fairing.

I am always hunting for switch locations myself. One place i like is the left as seated back side fork cover chrome. You can't drill it on the bike very well, but there is room there for maybe 4-6 switches depending.

I have one illumitated switch tie wraped hard to the frame just behind the tank on the left. With the seat on you don't see it till atleast the passing lamps it controlls are ON. I did have to learn the feel, and in day time need to look down to make sure it is ON. At night the led in the switch reflects off the wind screen, basic no brainer if i see a blue light then.
