Dunlop Elite 3 180-70R-16 Installed On Rear

Had the Dunlop Elite 3 installed Tuesday, I went with the 180-70R-16 and have only ridden 60 plus miles so far. But I do love the feel of the bike and the way it rides. I haven't replaced the front yet as it still has some miles left. I will go with the Dunlop Elite 3 on the front also. With my rear tire the size it is what size should I go with for the front? Does the Elite 3 for the front come in a radial or on bias ply? Should I run the radial on front if they make it? Any help will be appreciated.

they do make the radial E3 for the front in the stock size for your
1600.since you put a radial on the rear i'd replace your bias front
tire with a radial as soon as you can.it will improve your ride and
handling even further.the correct size for your front tire is
150/80-16.

I've been running the E3's radials, front and rear for over 10,000 miles now and they are just starting to show wear, but they still have many miles left on them. I love the way the bike rides and handles after going to the E3's.

Guess I will go with the radial on the front also. I sure do like the ride and handling with the rear tire.

Thanks for the input Landman, NyhtRyder and FiremanBrent. I do appreciate any and all help always.

The local guy that put them rear tire on has the same set on his Goldwing and he has 18,000 miles on them and they are still good looking tires. Not sure but it seems the Goldwing is easier on tires. I had a 1983 and rode over 30,000 miles on it and only had the rear tire replaced on it.

Good to hear tires with good mile wear. (without going to the car tire)
I have looked at the Avons and now will be keeping the Dunlops in mind as well.
Good post and please update it when you can.

Several folks have told me that they don't use the radial on the front, I am not sold either way. Personally, I put a set of E3 bias on about 3500 or so miles ago. I went with the 160/80 16 on the rear, as it is a Goldwing spec tire and is reportedly a heavier tire than the other sizes. The front is a 150/80 16.
So far, I love the ride and the handling, both wet and dry. Time will tell what the wear will be like. One side benefit is that the front end shake went away and hasn't returned.

Dunlop Elite 3 180-70R-16 Installed On Rear

Hi,
Last year the noise I thought was coming from the front Bridgestone turned out to be coming from the rear Bridgestone which I did not know was badly cupped. I was convinced it was the front tire that was noisy. I changed the front tire to an Avon Cobra. The noise was still there. After I changed the rear tire to a Cobra the noise was gone. My buddy with an 07 Gold Wing complains about his Elite 3s being noisy.

"radial or bias ply"

I am trying to lean more about tires rather than just letting the dealer put on what he/she thinks is right.

What is the riding and/or handling differences between radial Vs bias ply tire?

Txs

Bill

Redjay so far my rear Dunlop Elite 3 has been just what I expected. I crusie down the highway and have no problem with noise. Rides great and makes me wish I had one on the front. I still have 2 or 3 thousand left in the front tire. No use changing it out just yet. That to me would be a waste of money. Looking forward to having the Elite 3 on the front just the same.

Hi, I put the Cobra on the front 3,000 kms before I changed the Bridgestone on the back to a Cobra and had no handling issues using a radial in the front and a bias ply on the rear. Having said that I dont recommend or endorse doing that.
