Amsoil question for the oil experts
For you oil experts - a friend of mine is an Amsoil dealer. He caught me at a weak moment and I agreed to buy 10w40 MC oil and filter from him. That will be one expensive oil change. I was going to switch over to Rotella syn. and should have done it but this time obviously will be Amsoil.
The Amsoil dealer told me I could go twice the normal mileage limit or one year before changing. Of course, the manual for my 1500 says I can go 6,000 miles before changing. So I guess I should be able to go 12,000 miles with Amsoil. I won't put that many miles on in a year. I probably won't even go 6,000 miles this year. My question is, how important is that 1 year changing time limit? I've always doubted that it was that important to change conventional oil in my car within the 6 month recommendation. I don't know what the difference is between the oil sitting in the bottle on a shelf or sitting in the engine. Also, this Amsoil dealer told me he only changes the oil in his personal car at 25,000 miles and usually that takes 2 years and he's never had a problem. For those who use Amsoil, what are your mileage and time limits? Login or Register to Remove Ads |
