Update on busted transnission

Now I know why my trans wouldn't shift.

A BROKEN shift fork. The one closest to the case on
the stator side.

Now comes the long process of waiting for the parts to
arrive, after I order them later today.

That will make it tough to shift... crappy time to have to work and not ride.
Did you know when it happened or what broke it? Was it just old age?

That really sucks. Good luck on the repair. As Stewdogg asks, what do you think caused the problem?

Darn sure hope it was not OLD AGE. I am riding an '01 and getting a little long in the tooth myself.

I believe that it was bent when I bought the bike. It had 9000 miles on it.

It would pop out of 2nd then about 2 years ago it stopped going into 2nd.

I downshifted into 1st while turning and it felt different, after that it wouldn't go past neutral.

It is a weak design. And not at all uncommon. The 4 speeds actually had a 'FAR' to repair the same problem.

My friend has that exact same problem on his '01 Nomad. I think he can upshift but not down into 2nd but I could have that backwards. Dealer says the shift fork is bent?
