Lunched my trans yesterday

Not really sure how it happened but it won't change from the 1-2 to the 3-4-5.

I've been having an issue with the shift fork (bent) for the 1-2 shift.

Yesterday in Myrtle Beach after slowing downshifting and making a right turn, It decided that it wouldn't go past where second is supposed to be.

I had to get a buddy to come up from Charleston and drive back to Charlotte to pick up a trailer then go back to Myrtle and pick the bike up.

I'll remove the engine and start disassembling it towards the end of the week.

My summer has just been shortened considerably.

Sorry to hear your tranny expired. I am curious. Did you use the heel/toe shifter or just the toe shifter ?

Thats sounds like a big job, youll be tearing right into the motor I presume. More than likely youll find a bent shift fork and maybe a worn drum. May as well fix it right the first time since its not a job you want to do over again. Let us know what you find in there.

Are you 100% sure the expose bell cranks are not seized? Under the bike on the left side as seated is the shift rod, with a bell crank on both ends. No one seems to lube these and in time they can wear out of alignment and seize.

There is a neutral fisher too, and if you were caught stopped in 2nd it can be a pain.

It will shift from 1st to neutral and into 2nd. It just won't change to the 3-4-5 positions.

Boy that sucks! Guess it's better to find it now than half way through the summer. Good luck and let us know what you find.
