Census

I got the Census in the mail a month or so ago and I filled it out and sent it in. IIRC, under ethnicity or some non-sense, I put other and American. Anyway, I get a call from the census bureau today wanting to go over my census form with me. I told her I already filled it out once and that was enough. I then hung up. I guess I was politically incorrect and didn't give the desired answer.

Census

My wife filled in the census form after she found out I was going to put "Human" down for race.

We found a message on the phone supposedly from the Census Bureau that included some case number. I erased it figuring it was a scammer. Who knows what is going on anymore.

Damn, and I thought I was the only asshole here!
I also put human on the race box.
If they send someone to come to my house to see haw many "humans" are here I'll tell them the same damn thing!!

The purpose of the census is to find out how many people are in America, not what race or how many dogs there is!
I've even had friends who were asked how many toilets were in her house!??

I'm wondering how many of these 12 million illegal Mexacoons have filled theirs out.... wanna take a guess???

I guess they didn't like American. All I can say is that they can go screw, along with O'Stymie.

Two questions that should be on the census:

1. Are you a citizen of the United States?

2. If you are an immigrant are you a legal immigrant?

With answers like that... I would be surprised if they aren't back to question you further. I would like to know if they do or don't.

Unfortunately, it appears it is a federal law to fill-out the form completely, and honestly. So, I suppose they could have you over a barrel if they wanted to push that button.

Now... before everyone gets their underwear all tied in a knot... I see most everyone's point and don't disagree.

Unfortunately, (sadly, and regretfully), this information helps them distribute the money for all the entitlement programs taxpayers support -- which is really where my underwear gets all tied in a knot over!!! :(" title="" border="0"/>

We, as a nation, are going to "entitle" ourselves into bankruptcy. Just check-out how well that approach has worked-out in Greece and other such countries. ;)

You are absolutely correct Greg. I woke up to the house of cards that we were building about four years ago and it scared the crap out of me. Too much going out and promised to go out and not nearly enough coming in or saved to cover it. Something had to give.

Now, the progressives/democrats/obamaites are doing their level best to give more away to buy more votes. The sad part is that they will be in charge of a black hole with not one clue as to how to fix it. That's why we are where we are now, they are clueless. They rule with feelings and emotions rather than common sense.

It hit me like a lightning bolt this weekend when I heard about a new tax that some pinhead politician had proposed. These people point fingers, and subpeona businesses, and levy penalty taxes, and fire CEO's and dictate wages supposedly to come to our aid. They scream like cats at airlines charging more for luggage, and threaten banks over credit card fees. BUT, they don't even think for a moment about dreaming up a new tax. Can we say Value Added Tax? That list seems endless these days. It's okay for them to rip us off but God help any business that tries to pass along it's cost of doing business.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind to business abuses and I'm not nieve enough to think that businesses are without fault. BUT I/we can always chose not to do business with an airline or a bank that we don't like. The government on the other hand will take our property and throw us in jail if we don't pay their 'lawful' taxes. And they don't give it a second thought when dreaming up new ones. They are worse than business ever dreamed of being. IT PISSES ME OFF.

Census

There was a story in the local rag the other day bemoaning the fact that only about 60% of the census forms sent to AZ residents have been returned. It seems the Native Americans and Mexicans aren't real good about sending them back in. I can see the Natives being distrustful of the government, Lord knows they got screwed big time. The Mexicans are afraid it will draw attention to them. Like having a census canvasser knocking on the door won't?

Whether you agree with the census or not, that's your business, but it's how federal dollars are divvied up and how we determine representation in Congress. So by refusing to play along, you're not teaching Washington a lesson, you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

You took the words out of my mouth CJ. The race count is for re-drawing the representative districts for seating minorities.

I've been waiting for the phone call or knock on the door. For race I wrote Klingon and Betazoid (Mixed Marriage ). Still waiting. As far as redistribution of money or gerrymandered congressional districts . . . it's too late to really make a difference.

Census

It's not only the distribution of tax dollars to the states, it could also affect the number of representatives from your state....if the "population" decreased, determined by census counts, then a state could lose a representative in congress.

At least you count. The 5 to 7 million Americans that live overseas (this does not include service members or other US Government employees overseas - they count) like myself are not counted in the census. Talk about taxation without representation.
