Summer Riding Gloves

Here's a little gem some of you may know but most probably don't.....

If you are looking for a really great pair of light summer riding gloves....forget your motorcycle shops and the like. Go to any sporting goods store and pick yourself up a set a baseball batting gloves. They are super lightweight and come in all kinds of colors (including black).

Since they stretch to fit....you can't get a better fitting glove that provides a superior grip to any other gloves on the market! The palm side (including fingers) are light leather, while the backside is usually a stretchy fabric that breaths well and has a velcro strap to tighten to your hand.

I just picked up a new pair which reminded me to post. That one is on the house fellas.... ;)!

Summer Riding Gloves

I use the fingerless gloves from sporting goods stores as well, they fit well and for me they are free, since the kids at school leave them in the gym changerooms once in a whilw and never come back for them.

It's funny, but as I was on my ride today, I was wondering how batting or golf gloves would work for motorcycle gloves. I used to buy a batting glove to use as a golf glove because I'd tear the thin golf glove up after a couple of rounds.

Yes, those batting gloves are excellent riding gloves.

I use bike gloves. You can get them fingerless, a variety of materials and padded on the palms. Any bike shop carries them.

Summer Riding Gloves

I bought a pair of mechanics type gloves for $9. Mesh, adjustable Velcro closure and will dry out in short time.

Summer Riding Gloves

I wear gloves to protect my hands if I land on them on the road. Batting gloves and golf gloves are not very thick leather. Fingerless, don't get me started.
I wear Icon tarmac gloves. Fairly heavy leather on the palms and mesh on the back with protective leather there also.
$34 but I can afford it.

Summer Riding Gloves

A friend of mine used to berate me because I didn't ride with the very best protected armor boots or heavy duty gloves when the weather was hot.

I always thought it was funny after this sermon that he'd strap on his summer half helmet before we'd go for a ride.....

I have Viking blood in me and I just can't wear all that heavy stuff in the hot weather. I know the consequences if the unthinkable happens, but I'll tell you what....I'd much rather ride comfortably than miserably. If I'm gonna be miserable, why ride at all....??

Summer Riding Gloves

I bought a pair of TourMaster Summer gloves two summers ago, and they are GREAT for summer riding, and give excellent protection to your hands. Cost $50, but well worth it.

Summer Riding Gloves

Thanks for the idea about the baseball gloves, I haven't thought of it, I have used the mechanics gloves and they work well in warm/hot weather. I like the fingerless in hot weather but this time of year I have been looking for some light weight alternative.

I hear ya Kris. I used to ride all year long with a jacket and full face helmet. Until one summer, I almost passed out from getting too hot. Now, for summer riding, I ride in a long-sleeved shirt and lid. If it's my time to go.....then it's my time to go.

Summer Riding Gloves

Fingerless gel palm HD gloves for summer riding. They are very comfortable and it's not required to remove them every time I reach for my wallet or anything in my pockets.
