fire and steel light bar
For Christmas my wife gave me a fire and steel light bar ( i love her). Lack of free time forced me to bring it to the dealer on Saturday to be installed. I will be going back on Tuesday because it is not wired correctly. When the high beam is on the lights on the light bar do not shut off.(the law in my state) I also do not like the way they ran the wires, around the back of the upper fork shrouding and then up into the headlight bucket. For those who have this light bar is this the only way to run the wires? It seems there should be a more concealed way.

are you talking about a 1500 lightbar or one for the 1600?my 1600 has an on/off switch on the back of the housing.if you switch
it on it operates on both low beam and high beam.

My 1600 factory light bar is switch operated. Works either with hi/low on or off as long as it is switched on.
The wires also run to the headlight bucket but some day I will get around to installing a fuse block and running it through the seperate block.

I think the F&S lightbar is made by Cobra. Is the on/off switch down on the right side of assembly by the right side spotlight?

Yes, the switch is below the right side spotlight. I called Kawasaki this morning and they are going to try and e-mail me another set of installation instructions. In the mean time I guess I'll check out the Cobra site. Any ideas about how the wires were run?

We don't have any laws here pertaining to how many lights we can have on whether it high or low beam. I always ride with my high beam on and my driving lights on as well. Im on the highway a lot and in the country so every bit of added light helps at night.

You can go to the Cobra website and it should be the same. The only difference is it may not call for a relay which I highly recommend. I also mounted an accessory switch box under the left side bike switch pod. I made my own out of a Radio Shack project box and switch. You can use that instead of reaching down which I don't recommend while you are riding. I prefer to have my driving lights independant from the headlight circuit all together. If your headlight bulb goes you still have the driving lights. You can switch off in slow traffic which is easier on your charging system and lighting circuit and you won't have to reach.

I've gotten it all fixed by the dealer at this time. I logged on while at the dealership and showed the service manager all of the comments and advice from this forum. Needless to say they were very impressed. Thank you to all.
