Soft engine guard covers
I have always made the light weight engine guard covers but I don't think they have been noticed during all of the talk on the forum about covers. I have reworked the price a bit and am offering these covers for $85.00 plus S&H of $10.00. My biggest downfall is the shipping time from Canada to the States - it is anywhere from 10 to 12 days but would be worth the wait.
The leather I use is 6 ounce chap leather and is a bit stiffer than regular garment leather. It is also the best quality leather I can buy and I can have a shipment of leather in 3 days. I have the regular silver domed studs as well as 3 colours, cherry red, royal blue, and emerald green, of acrylic studs in silver bezels. The studs will cost $30.00 for the silver and $40.00 for the acrylic per pair. The edges are laced the same as the heavy covers. The 1500 covers have straps that wrap around the top and bottom of the highway bar but the 1600 covers have a strap those goes across the top and bottom of the radiator. The engine guard on the 1600 is 2 separate pieces and is impossible to use the wrap around straps on so I put the strap across from side to side. I will guarantee if you take care of the leather it will not crack and it is not a hard process. Leather should be oiled once a year with a light coat of Neets Foot oil applied with a clean cloth, allowed to soak in a bit, and the excess wiped off. The rest of the time, I clean our leather with lemon Pledge, which has lemon oil in it and will keep the leather like new. I apply a layer of oil and Blackfire UV protector to every article I make. These are the covers I made for Charlie's 1600 Nomad. I was using up smaller pieces of leather (which is fine with him) so his have a seam on the inside cover. I would not seam any for anyone else. The leather is quite a bit darker black than the pics show but taking pics in the shed with the flash make the leather appear lighter in colour than it is. ![]() ![]() ![]() Login or Register to Remove Ads |

...Nicely done CC. If I didn't already have a set, I'd be all over these! :)
