My First Take the Nomad to Work Day!

Road my Nomad to work today for the first time. What a nice and enjoyable ride that was. A lot different than my Vulcan 750. One way is only 23 miles or 45 minutes, but I felt tired on the 750 even with that short distance. Mostly because of dealing with traffic.

No troubles today. It was a bit nippy on the knees and toes, 41 degrees when I left home, but the Gerbing's electric gloves and vest kept the rest of me toasty. The Nomad performed flawlessly.

First time to ride with the new backrest from grasshopper and the PhatIIs, took a bit to get used to, but I like it... Also, first time to ride after doing the BD bafflectomy. Like the rumble a lot.

What a great way to start the day.

Hope those of you that are still stuck in winter get out soon.

Michael

Sounds like if you put the crash bar chaps on, you'd be warm all over.

I might try that next fall. So the chaps help the legs as well?

I didn't get any till this winter, and they block enough wind to keep my feet and legs warm.

They probably block too much wind to keep them on in the summer, though they probably block a lot of rain splash to the lower legs and feet also.

Any time the roads are wet from rain, fog or dew and temps for me below 65 is a good time for the Hwy bar chaps.

Maybe I should think about getting them this spring. There will still be a lot of cold weather riding left. I see they are about $60 from ClassicChaps.

Glad you enjoyed the ride on the Nomad more than the 750. I have been looking at both the chaps and getting some heated clothing for some time. However, with one kid in college (just started), another finishing this May (woo-hoo) and another trying to get her life together, money has been tight.

I think the chaps are the way to go. I have had them on my bike for the last week and it is noticably better in the morning.

Hey vaccam.

Check out PH Customs for their chaps. They start at about $40 and are made and sold by one of our KawaNow members. :)

My First Take the Nomad to Work Day!

The first day I rode my Nomad to work (about a week after I bought it) I parked it in the far corner of the OR parking lot. One of the anesthesiologists backed into it and knocked it over. It only scratched the crash bars and bent the front brake lever. The guy was nice enough to cal me and tell me what happened. I still don't know how he picked it up by himself. Hopefully it's been "pre-disastered" and that will be the worst thing that happens to it.
